Normal for Finishing?

Hey guys, six weeks into flower on Hella jelly which is a “45 day” flowering strain according to Humboldt. I don’t think she’s ready yet, but just wanted to see if the yellowing and leaves changing are normal. Basically water only into living soil right now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I’ve not seen or grown a strain that finishes that fast, but it sure looks like she’s throwing a lot foxtails. Sometimes it’s a genetic trait seen more commonly in some sativas, or it could be a stress response. I think this is more likely from stress than “normal” fade. It seems a little early for typical senescence, according to the bud development.

Thanks! I guess there’s some FoxTails. I don’t really notice them like I’ve seen in other pictures, but Hella jelly is supposedly a sativa that grows like an Indica. As far as time goes, I’m just repeating what’s on the back of the pack which says 45 days flower but I know it can go longer. I guess my main concern would be just the yellowing of the leaves if it’s early. Should I continue to feed something like build a bloom? By the way, thanks for the help as this is my first go round…

Not even close to being done. Yellowing leaves are telling you it is starving from just water. FYI plants in flower need N too, just giving it a bloom fert is not going to improve things.

Got it. The build a bloom is a 2-10-5 so I figured it had enough juice to carry me through. I will try some synganics to the rescue tomorrow. Any suggestions for a flower based synthetic? I’ve heard of lots of people using them when they need a quick response, but I don’t know any brands that might work in my case. Also, I didn’t think it was nitrogen related because none of the lower leaves are showing any yellowing. I actually thought maybe it was nute burn from the build a bloom.

I started out trying to do the organic thing, mixing all this bat shit etc. Always had issues. They day my life changed was when I went to Jacks 321 method. I start my seedlings at 25% and then work up to 2.4g/1.6g/0.8g into flower. I grow in soil.

It’s hard to correct mistakes in an organic grow when you’re already mid way into the grow. Most truly organic stuff takes time to break down and be available. If you do want to continue with the Organic route, you’ll probably need something like a tea that’s faster acting, or to switch to synthetics to finish her off.

I’d recommend some reading (organic ROLS tab) and looking into soil mixes for the next run if you want to stick with this route. It’s a lot more “homework” up front, but a lot less daily work along the way, once you get it set up.
I’ve also got a journal up and running, using my home made organic soil mix. I’ve got the mixes broken down and listed in there too for anyone that wants to try them.

Yeah Never listen to breeder estimates it's done when it's done those are based on the fastest phenos in an optimum environment and everything going right and as others said already 45 days bloom is definitely not gonna be a sativa dominant plant most indica Dom strains ain't even so fast those things are rarer than hens teeth

45 days is crazy, I have a plant like that but it's not auto just some random fem bagseed from outdoor bud
But it's sick !! Crazy frost and crazy fast, this is day 45 and I can harvest it as all hairs are orange and it's mostly cloudy imo but I'll let it ride until 56ish

Your buds look ok, but something looks a bit off. Kinda like buds that don't really ever want to finish up, but yours are only 45 days along, so I dunno. I've seen cold temps and weak lighting produce similar looking results.

as far as feed, consistency is key. ramp up with N from day 1 in flower. I only taper N off a little the last few weeks. and slowly introduce whatever PK, again ramping it up. PK i run full strength until the end. I use mega crop 1 part, and whatever their bloom booster is called. about as simple as it gets.
