That is what I read some time ago on this site. that 2 days before cutting plants, don't water and don't give any light.

Can anyone confirm this?

thanks.

They don't need any water added for the last 2 days, but I choose to give my plants light each day until, well, you know. :o

It's been suggested that giving 48 hours of darkness before harvest will help them finish. I tried it once, and all I noticed was that the trichomes appeared to have ripened some.

Actually, it doesn't jive with the way I think about harvest. I believe that THC is developed during the daylight hours, so I always harvest at the end of the day of 12 hours light, and then I move them outside to sit in direct sunlight for several hours before I take them. I do my manicuring under the sun in my back yard.

trichs are made at night so 48 hours of darkness makes sense.. long period of darkness super sparkly shit? I dunno i grow outside but if i could do this i would like to try it. I kind of neglect my plants at the end, just flush and watch them eat themselves lol......

ahha. so we have two different ideas.

are trics grown at night or durring the daylight?

anyone know for sure with a reference?

Well i don't know whether or not trichomes specifically grow at night but i know that plants store their energy during the day and use it at night, which theoretically would mean that the 48 hour darkness may be best...but does it really need to be 48 hours? hmm

Think about the amount of time compared to 8 weeks of flowering. 8 weeks have 1344 hours. Do you think your "eagle shit" can be noticeably enhanced within the last 3.6% of the remaining growing time? Maybe?

OK, well, I guess the translation from German didn't come off very well, so I'll just let that go ... :blsmoke:

As far as trichomes being made at night, I don't know about that. Maybe they are, but if they are, then they are made during the light also. All of the plants energy is generated via photosynthesis, and resin secretion happens via that plant energy. Yes, energy is stored for later use, so it could be happening at night, but I'll bet on the sunlight.
