no light (again) ?

Hi,

My ballast failed on Sunday and my plants have been in darkness ever since.

They are 9 weeks into flowering and are so close to being ready

I ordered another one immediately only to be told now they've cancelled the order as 1000 watt ballasts keep failing.

I've now ordered another from elsewhere but thats added an extra 2-3 days waiting time.

How long can my plants go without light before it starts to affect them ?

Should I just chop as much as possible now ?

i am by far a new grower but i have been doing alot of reading and i hear good things about putting your girls in complete dark the last week or so. suppossed to put them into shock and they go nuts with trichromes tryon to protect the flowers!!

i plan on putting my girls in the dark for at last the last 3 of 4 days

ya 3-4 days of darkness will definitely increase your resin production. can you check the trichomes? what are they at? if you are close enough to harvest like you are on your last week, then just leave them in darkness, just make sure your humidity stay low. not above 55%. but keep it as low as possible. but if you have say 2-3 weeks left, just throw on your ballast, they will probably have a little light shock but since they are so latent in flowering it would not matter. just need a little more light for the swell and the trichomes to turn colors

Your far enough in that harvesting now wont really help. See if you can swap out that ballast at a local hydro store instead? May be a little more expensive plus some sales tax but its better than darkness! Short of that, pay the overnight fee and learn the lesson of Internet purchases not really saving money in th elong run ;(

oh ya they are just the crystals should look like little mushrooms all over. just need a magnifier to see more clearly . i use a 30x scope to check mine. i have been told its the most accuarate way to tell ripeness they start clear and as they ripen turn milky white like a glass of half milk half water if you let them go to long they turn amber and thats when they are over ripe. its my understanding that if you harvest when 3/4 of them are milky you should end up with the max potency.
