No leaves just stalk

I planted a seed and it grew but it’s just the stalk and no leaves. Does this happen sometimes. I’d understand some stall and some tiny leaves but this is just the stalk unfortunately

You should consider starting the seed in soil that is made for it. If you dont want to repot, start it in a jiffy starter in the larger pot of regular soil

Your pictures are not clear enough to zoom in and see details. You sure you don't have the seed membrane still on there holding the Cotyledons closed? That is a very common issue. Can you post a pic close up to the top of the seedling?

… or use your boot.

Maybe next time start seed in a solo cup of pre moistened starter soil. That way some moisture will still be trapped within cup. After some time ( plant forming root ball / growth ) that “ starter cup “ will be able to be transplanted .

What soil is that ?

It’s hard to tell with the picture, but it looks like the soil is dry. I like to start seeds in smaller containers, 3-4” at most. It’s easier to water and more consistent than a bigger container.
