Nirvana Lemon OG Haze Autoflower (x6 – DWC) Journal

Hey everyone. Not going to write a huge preface as to why I chose the strain or my history of growing. I’ll just say I’m a novice, and this is my 2nd grow. First was a successful grow earlier this year of 3 Nirvana Bubblelicious plants in Coco that yielded a total of about 9 oz. dry. I decided to try DWC as the dude at the gardening shop said that if you can grow in coco, you can do deep water culture. So I am.
Due to reasons you could understand, stealth is a requirement for me.
Seeds: Nirvana Lemon OG Haze Autoflower (Bought 10 seeds, popped 6 of 6, 100% germination rate)
Equipment:
48x24x72 Generic Grow Tent
600 Watt Apollo MH/HPS Digital Ballast w/Air Cooled Hood (18/6 schedule)
Ventech 6” Inline Fan and Large Carbon Scrubber
Home-made 10 gallon DWC Tubs (18 gallon totes, 3.75” net pots, dual outlet air pumps, two heavy air-stones per tub)
Massive 40 liter bag of Hydroton (only like 27 bucks on Amazon)
Note: This DWC system does NOT use the submersible pump with water lines to the net pots. I personally think that is a lot more equipment/points of failure for only getting better growth for the first 2 weeks or so.
Nutrients:
General Hydroponics Flora Trio
GH PH Down (need a lot of this stuff, bought a gallon for 33 bucks on eBay)
Botanicare HydroGuard (better bacteria approach)
Rapid Rooter plugs for germinating (don’t care what you say, these are awesome and IMO there is no better way to germinate)
Major city tap water
Start of journal:
First week of November –
Put 6 seeds into 6 Rapid Rooter plugs. Cleaned and sanitized the grow area/tent. Washed and disinfected DWC tubs. Cleaned glass on lamp hood. Re-designed ventilation ducting a little. Washed, soaked, and rinsed the Hydroton pebbles a ton. These things come crazy dirty.
11/6 –
Used 12 gallons of water to keep hydroton moist with ½ TBSP of FloraMicro, FloraBloom, and FloraGrow. Took 7 TBSP of PH down to get to 5.5 on digital PH meter. Added 1 TBSP of HydroGuard to each tub.
11/9 –
Checked the PH of the reservoir. Was at 7.6. Time to add more PH Down (3 TBSP per tub). Now at 5.5. Added ½ TBSP of each FM, FB, FG, and 1 tsp of HydroGuard. Lowered lamp to approx. 18” from plants.
11/11 –
Not happy with system at this point. Decided to change reservoir water. Also realized 12 gallons is too much. The roots need more of an air gap between the bottom of the net pots and the water level. After much consideration, decided on 10 gallons. Leaves about 2.5” of air gap in the tub.
Used 10 gallons of tap water, 35 ml of FM, 50ML of FG, 15 ML of FB, and 20ml of HydroGuard per tub. Used 7 TBSP of PH down to arrive at 5.5.
11/15 –
Adjusted ph back from 7.2 to 5.4. with 2 TBSP PH Down per tub.
I will keep this updated as time permits with information, photos, and what I learn about this strain. Hopefully I will be able to give some useful pointers in regards to what this strain likes and doesn't like throughout the grow. Thanks for looking and enjoy.
