Planning a new grow room moving away from soil.
After looking at all the alternatives I belive NFT is for me.
I want to make a NFT bed instead of using tubes or fenceposts.
I have to 400 hps and have seen the optimal area each can cover is about 1 m2.
I have a plywood board that is 120cm by 240cm which i would be perfect to make a planting bed where i am hoping to bring about 60 plants to maturity. This gives also my lights 120cm x 120cm to cover each which seems optimal.
My question is about medium and the spreader mats. I was wondering if putting hydroton in a thin layer along the bottom of the bed would spread the water and give the roots a surface to spread out on.
When it comes to medium I was thinking of rooting clones in rockwool cubes and put them directly into small netpots and into the styrofoam boards above the bed.
The reason i want to build it this way is that I have everything in the house already and there is no need to buy and bring new materials into the house.
Peace.
