Hello everyone!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post. I am very new to this and have tried my hardest to use the tools here to do my own calculations on my proposed setup however am just unable to be totally sure. I am looking to build an enclosed counter-top system (this system will not be for cannabis, but in the future I will be developing a taller version which will be). The system will be completely enclosed in ABS plastic and the interior will measure. The setup will feature 2 Cree CXB3590 3500K COBs. What is the most ideal driver to run this system? I would like for the driver to be dimmable to adjust the strength of the lighting. I know there are probably a lot of right answers, but I just need a simple setup. If the driver could also run 2 cpu fans that would also help. Thanks so much for any guidance! It is very appreciated,

Kirk

I don't know if you're set on the cxbs but check bridgelux EB strips or some other mid power diode option like quantum boards. You'll have trouble getting good spread in a very short space with cobs.

I am not 100% set on them, and those bridgelux look very intriguing, they do not need a heat sink? How is the output for them compared to a COB? The system will be roughly 8" high x 24" wide x 10" deep and sealed white ABS plastic, however the other system I am designing will be much taller, so maybe I should save the COB's for that system. What kind of driver would be required for a bridgelux setup like that? Apologies for bombarding you with questions, your advice is very appreciated.

6x 12 inch EB Strips, 3500k: $25 http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bridgelux/BXEB-L0280Z-30E1000-C-A3/976-1492-ND/6236278

1x HLG-60H-24A: $35 http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/260/HLG-60H-SPEC-806163.pdf

1x 24x8x1/8 inch alumimun plate to act as a passive heatsink, like $10-15 from a local metal supplier.

Total cost: ~$75

6 strips, wired in parallel, pulling 410 mA each. 60 watts total. No thermal interface material required, will work passively cooled on the aluminum plate. Just drill the plate where the strips have screw notches, screw down the strips, plug them into the driver (I would just use four 4 pole wagos connected to two 5 poles at the driver for pos and neg). Boom, you've got a light. Way easier than cobs and it's like 1/2 inch thick if you mount the driver remotely somewhere else in your enclosure or outside, that way you really maximize your space. The strips get slightly better eff. than the CXBs.

Wow, this is phenomenal! Thanks so much for your help, this is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Really appreciate your input.

I would also look into samsung strips (very similar to the bridgelux eb strips) and quantum boards (both easily searchable on this forum).
