Newbie Question: Grow Tents and Odor Control...how well do they work?

I am looking at my first grow and odor control is going to play a big factor.

I am also trying to figure out how much effort and $$$ I want to put into this first grown. For instance, do I really want to construct or purchase an airtight growbox and design a ventalation system with carbon filters that will require me to modify the existing home duct work?

or do I buy a small grow tent and still make a great ventalation system?

If I grow 6-9 plants, is my roommate going to be able to smell it? I'd rather not have guests come into my house and say, "Hey are you growing?"

I figured this question is all encompassing of indoor and possibly some outdoor growers.

My advice is to get a small tent, and choose a strain that doesn't emit a strong smell during flowering such as Northern Lights. Even with a low odor strain, you may want to think about a simple carbon filter and exhaust fan. Good luck and happy growing

edit- If you don't want to fiddle with carbon filters, try an odor eliminating product such as ONA gel. Lots of good info on this stuff around here.
