when you water your plants, the excess water that runs out the holes in the botom of the pot and collects in the catch trays, do you leave that and let the soil slowly wick it up or do you dump it so the pots dont sit in water ?

No, you should empty your pot trays, ic you dont oxygen is prevented in the root zone, this can lead fo root rot

Depends what your growing in...... In soil or Pro-Mix its fine to leave the run-off to slowly soak into the plant..... However, in Coco, you must not let it sit in ANY Run-off.... All Run-off is to Waste, because your flushing out the built up salts by doing so.... This is VERY important in Coco to prevent Nutrient Lockout....

I would not let water sit, it could lead to rot, invite insects & drown roots.

Depends on how much runoff imo, if its a little maybe not too much to worry. But if its a good inch+ water that wont be sucked up, drain it.

I usually dump it out so they don't sit in it, but I don't know if it is even a big deal really. If you wait long enough between watering then I don't think it will be a problem.

i usually leave it in there.....within a few hrs shes sucked it up anyways, aslong as u have good aeration in ur soil u should be fine

depends on your watering schedule, the humidity in your room etc. My groom often suffers from low humidity, and i quite like leaving my pots to dry a couple of times a week, I believe that this strengthens the roots and leads to bigger harvests... anyway, I leave mine to be soaked up (or absorbed into the air, raising the humidity) so that i know, when the top soil is dry, there is still some moisture in there somewhere and the plants wont be too shocked by the dryness.

I water from the bottom with trays, I find it easier that way
Basically I top up the trays until they stop drinking and thats it, done :leaf:

Again, everyone is just answering this assuming hes using Soil/Pro-mix..... If hes using Coco, he needs to have a 10-20% run-off to waste everytime to prevent Nute Lock...
