I am thinking of doing a little op around my area. Mostly guerilla farming and posibly a lil garden at my friends land. But i am curious as when to start. i was planning on starting them inside for a couple weeks maybe a month depending on my situation. I live in the North East of the US. NY, Vermont, Mass, Penn. that area. lol

So my main question is When should i start them? or when would be the right time to put them outside? and should i grow them in sunken in buckets or right in the ground?

any othe suggestions would be great to a newbie outdoor grower.

Basically you just want it to be after the last frost. You can never really know when that will be for sure obviously, but you can find info about when it usually is in your area (ask at a garden center or look it up). Also, check the weather often when it gets to be around that time, and you can play it by ear...if the weather is looking good, then maybe a bit earlier than expected. Probably April though.

That all was referring to when you should put them outside. So then once you find that approximate date based on the last frost, just start them inside 4 or 5 weeks before that, or however long you can...5 weeks would be a good length of time, in my opinion.

If you have the ability to plant them in 5 gallon buckets or in 10 gallon bags (<--- that's my recommendation- see browndirtwarrior's videos) then that's always better than in the ground. Just make sure to put holes in the bottom. Oh and don't use 10 gallon bags unless you want some serious trees...they're not very stealthy haha.
