Ok I'm new to this forum but I know how they work ((I know if you ask a rookie question some of you will say to search and read stickys )) that's fine but theres always a few different ways to do certain things I have the basic questions

1. Is the paper towel germination method the best/(most successful ?))

2. Soil (( I'm looking for simple my first time around ))

3. Best lighting for veg (( are just cheap flurecants fine?)

4. Is it safe to grow other non cannabis plants such as lemon trees, dragon fruit tree, starfruit ect.ect. In the same room as my plants???

Stuff I have
1000w hps in a magnum xxxl 6" with dimmable ballast and a fan and carbon filter setup !!!

ANY HELP TIPS POINTERS WOULD BE MUCH APPRICATED !!!!!!!!

paper towel method works fine, takes about 36-48 hrs. as soon as you see stem sticking out put in soil buried a little. I plant mine sideways because there seems to be an argument over should it go up or down. They always do fine. I just use medium prioed potting soil with nutrients in it works fine. The cfl's will work fine, dont scrimp on wattage. You want about 10,000 lumens. 4x 32 watters is a good start. I grow tomatoes and lettuce in my grow room, no problems.

Hey bro, welcome. I like the paper towel method it works good but now, I drop a bean in a cup of distilled water, let it sit for 24 hours then plant it point down in my medium. Since I started doing it this way I have a 100% success rate.....so far lol

Paper towel has allways worked for me.As for veg lights if you have a small number of plants you can get away with CFL,6500 kelvin range"daylights",Or use a T5 ho tube setup if you have more plants,Or 400w metal halide,As for growing with other plants you can just make sure your plants are healthy so they dont get your ladys sick.Good Luck.

I germ seeds by floating them in water in a warm dark spot overnight. Then I put paper towels on a saucer, add the seeds, cover with more layers, and keep it very damp but not sopping wet. Put another saucer over top and return to your warm dark place. Success in germination is due to the seeds also, but I have never had a seed not germ in 24-36 hours with this method and with the seeds I use now.

When plants are small you can veg with a few cfls as said. If you go to 12/12 and the hps soon, that is enough. But if you intent to veg them to a larger size you need more light as they grow. I veg with a 250w MH and it creates more heat than a 400w hps. You could veg just fine with your hps dimmed to 600w and well above the young plants if you don't mind wasting some wattage.

I think you would do well with a t5 ho as previously stated. This way you can keep the light right on them,(almost touching them)so they won't stretch. And it will be easier to control your heat...

1. paper towel works great and has a high success rate
2. i advise either fox farm or roots organic for soil cause soil is pretty forgiving and these both come with nutrients in them but know the fox farm ocean is very nutrient rich and kind of rough for seedlings and clones
3. cheap CFL's would work but you need a bunch of them but t5 or t8 setups work better than CFL's but then if you already have a setup for an HPS if it is switchable im pretty sure everybody would advise just using a MH light for it cause they are the best for veg hands down
4. you can grow other plants in the same room but just remember fruiting plants invite bugs into your house and grow room i personally just grow herbs and spices in my room. i currently and growing basil, chives, catnip, parsley, cilantro, and spinach right next to my plants

Fox farms ocean forest...add some extra perlite and go...For me it has been amazing...just don't use nutes unless you are going to veg longer than a month...then all you have to give is flower nutes...I love it.

no you cant smoke it (i think...)(i personally dont smoke it). i just grow it cause i figured if im going to be growing and having bright ass lights why not grow things for everyone. and trust me the cat isnt allowed in my grow room cause i too would worry that id come in there and have a zonked out cat munching everything(cat+catnip+pot+a bunch of herbs and some vegetables= probably me pissed off at a cat and cracking up because of how fucked up he would be)

if you mix fox farm ocean forest and roots organic together you dont need to add hardly any perlite cause roots organic is FULL of it and then you almost dont need any nutes during veg

1. Is the paper towel germination method the best/(most successful ?)) It works. I've also just stuck them in a pre-soaked rockwool starter cube and had descent success- not saying its smart tho.

2. Soil (( I'm looking for simple my first time around )) Not my area of expertise

3. Best lighting for veg (( are just cheap flurecants fine?) I use a 600w mh, because why waste time?

4. Is it safe to grow other non cannabis plants such as lemon trees, dragon fruit tree, starfruit ect.ect. In the same room as my plants??? Some plants don't play well together. Tobacco and cedar come to mind. Do some research specific to the other plants you want to grow.
