Newbie needs help

This is my first ever grow attempt. I will have two separate spaces. Both measure 2' x 4'. Height is not an issue. Exhaust will be achieved by opening the door as needed. I am unable to provide exhaust any other way. I would like to know how many bulbs are needed. Here is what I have

X4 26w 6400k 1700 lumen for veg of 2-3 plants
x4 26w 2700k 1700 lumen for flower of 1 plant. Will be attempting to scrog and top.

grow medium is soil. Both spaces are lined with Mylar and will have one fan providing 210-230 cfm.

Should more bulbs or another fan be added? I I will eventually build a DIY hood but wanted to get a bulb number before I start planning the hood builds. Any help/advice would be a tremendous help. Thanks in advance. :peace:

if it was me I would throw a 100 watt bulb in there, and get a flap it will open and close when the fan turns on , so it will be dark when It closes, the ones for dryer vents, the fan will be ok I think hard to say, just keep eye on temps. run that fan 24 hours and veg for 24 hours that way, it will never be to cold or hot . the same temp 24 hours a day , no stress to the plants, if I were you I would try to keep them about 75 to 79 f temp, start flowering about 12 inches. because they will get 2 too 3 feet tall in flower, also running that fan 24 will help with humity mold, all that, but have fun ! one quick tip the more lights the better yield,

Wow, thanks for the quick reply^^ I was planning on getting to a 2' height then applying the screen to push down to about 1 foot. Of course the final height will be determined by each plant. I will definitely add a 100 w to the middle of my build. Not sure what you mean about the flap. I'm using 2 extra closets, not a box. My bad for not specifying. Don't want to go the hid/hps way at this point. My ability to control the temps of those bulbs is non existent at this time. Wanted to k.i.s.s this first go so I could enjoy the actual process rather than stress out about lighting, temps, energy use etc. thanks again Kind

I've only ever used 100+ watt cfl's, about 4 per plant, for veg. 4x 26 will make them grow but nothing like they'd grow with more juice.

My veg tent has recently been running hot at 84-106 but they're still growing, fwiw. It's hard to stop these things. One time I tore off a whole top, leaving a giant gash in the stalk, and the plant still produced nice buds.

Heat may become an issue. opening the door is not exhaust.

I also hope smell is not an issue. Late in the afternoon gets stinky and if door is open...

Perhaps you should look into some HO T5 lighting. It is proving to rival HID and is pretty low cost over all.

I agree that ventilation is going to be an issue for you. If you're just opening and closing a door, why not just build some fans into it? Standard size doors are cheap and easy to replace later when you're done with this grow (or in 5 years, whatever works).

You're going to end up with some REALLY potent stench once they start to flower. If I were in your shoes I'd be looking at some filtering options. There are several DIY options if money is an issue. You can make a decent carbon filter for under 20 bucks if you're handy enough. Lots of threads here showing options.

Good luck! Growing can be very rewarding in many ways, not just the usual (and awesome) "magical" effects :)
