New to Outdoor growing, advice?

I am in Northern ca. and am planning next years outdoor grow. A few questions for those who have gone on befor me. I have grown indoors for a while but this will be my first excursion into trying it outdoors.

I am going to be growing several different strains; White Widow, C-99, PPP,GDP, blue dream and maybe a Thia Haze x Skunk cross .

My questions are about starting clones indoors (under 400w. MH). and then transfering them outdoors.

Do you leave the plants in veg until re-planting outdoors? Or do you flip them and then transplant? I was told that placing your plants outdoors should be done around May 15 to June 1 for northern Ca. Is this right?

The Thia Haze x Skunk is a sativa dominant strain and takes 160 + days to finish in flower, what can be done ( if anything ) to properly bring such a long growing plant to finish in these latitudes? Or should I forget about strains that take so long?

Thanks in advance for any help

You can actually harvest twice a year when growing outdoors. Start your clones indoors, as spring approaches, force your clones into an indoor flower for two weeks and get the flowers started, then you can move them outside and let the short spring nights finish the job as you start your fall harvest plants indoors. You can always force the sativas to flower early and take them out when the time is right.

Good luck and happy harvests...
