New to gardening. Opinions needed on my setup

I'm new at this. This will be my first time growing anything. I found a post by scubadude239 with his setup that I liked. I live in an apartment so I don't have much room.

I was thinking about putting this setup in my patio closet. Closet doors will be closed (or should I leave it a little opened).

Setup:
GrowLab GL145
Digital Electronic 600 watt HPS & MH ballast
CoolTube 6" Reflector
GrowBright 6" High Velocity Inline Fan (or with carbon filter combo)
GrowBright Indoor/outdoor thermometer with hygrometer

Is there anything else that I need to start up. I do know that I would need pot holders, scissors, soil, ducting, and pest control. Recommendations for these or for other equipment would be very appreciated.

Set it all up and turn it on. That will tell ya temps and so forth. You will need things as the grow goes on. You will have to wait to see what you need.
