New Tent Setup 1st Timer Help (PICS)

Just got my tent setup, I have the fan on top the roof blowing fresh air into the carbon filter, just I don't know how often I should set the timer, for some reason the temperature rises when I turn on the fan and filter.. I have a box fan on the side vent for cooling. My home is always cool, the temp has remained 78.9 (with 400Watt MH Light on) until the fan and filter turns on then it rises to 83.3... Should my fan only be going on twice a days for 15 mintues at a time. As you can see I'm only in the germination process.. (Trainwreck seeds)

you shouldnt try to force air from the top

your intake/fresh air should be around the bottom as heat rises and it would be negating your intake

Could I put ducting from the top where the fan sucks air in and place it lower? Because my tent doesn't have a hole for the fan on the bottom.

you should be blowing air out of the room into the carbon filter not into the room. the air on the outside needs to smell clean not the air on the inside. And for air intake it should be at the bottom of the room because thats where the coldest air is << hot air rises. So reverse what you have now put the carbon filter where the fan is and the fan where the carbon filter is and if you need to a cold air intake at the bottom.
Hope This Helps!

the negative pressure from pulling air out of the room should pull enough clean air in. and you could get a temp controller like they put on attic fans or just see how long it takes to heat up in there and then put your fan on a timer. but even if you dont have heat problems you still want to run the fan every once in awhile like maybe once an hour for a few minutes just to get fresh air in there so your plants can breath.

Flip the fan... fucking a i get it now. thanks. SO the air from inside Smell pollen etc is being sucked through the filter and blown out of the tent into the room? Is that what your saying?

just flip the fan and exhaust the tent
Word, you want to pull the air outta the tent. I use a 4 inch inline duct fan (the 30 dollar ones) to force air in the bottom. I had a 4 inch tube (for cords and possible a 4 ducting opening) in the bottom of my tent as well as vents in the back, but those are against the back wall of my closet and useless.

When zipped up my tent looks like its slightly sucked in. I highly reccomend a variable duct fan controller. In my setup my blower (200 cfm can fan thing), get really loud at 100% but when i throttle it down to 90% its really quiet and still tons of air movement.

My canfan actually goes to my cooltube and sucks the air in from the open end. Keeps things 5-10 degrees cooler when on. It actually cools a bit when it turns on, lol. My carbon scrubber is in my attic at the end of the ducting when the hot air gets dumped.

open tent air > cooltube > ducting thru tent > Can fan > Ducting thru ceiling > Carbon scrubber

Hey often do I run my filter fan combo, is it possible to attach ducting to the out air into more ducting and into another carbon filter to ensure clean air is being dumped into my room, not skunky air? Should I buy a timer, right now its on a light switch, I run in morning and evenings for 15 minutes at a time

I run my setup whenever my mights are on. Thats how the hot air generated by my lights gets vented, and why my temps are lower with my lights on.. Im thinking I may need to run it 24/7 later...

Maybe if you had a drip controller, the 4 min off 1 on type that might work. Would be annoying as hell tho!

how many cfm is your fan? cfm = cubic feet per minute if you have 200 cfm fan and 200 cubic foot tent it will take 1 min. to exchange all the air in the tent. to get cubic feet in your grow room use this -- width x length x height = rooms cubic feet. then you should know how long to run it << probably 1-3 min. As far as how many times a day the bigger they get the more new air they will need and twice a day will probably not be enough. I would disconnect it from the light switch and put it on a timer say once a hour if there is no heat build up, if there is heat build up then as often as you need to to keep the temps down. If you only have to run it 1 min. per hour its still using less energy then the 15min. twice a day And as to your second question about your two carbon filters yes you could add another filter but I dont think it will be needed and there other things you could use that may work better for you panhead has some great ideas for smell you can search some of his threads for info or ask him for ideas here is a link to an ozone generator that he recommends https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/86320-my-highest-reccomendation-inexpensive-unit.html I havent tried it but I trust his judgement on this subject. he will be able to tell you how to set it up right.

mine runs 170cfm at 75 watts. which is better than i thought, i fliped the fan, results are better with no other fan on. with the side fan it doesn't seem to be effective blowing air in and sucking air out. but with the side fan off and just total blowing air out it cools efficiently and seems to be more effective. i'm going to set a timer for ever hour 5 minutes, i'll see what the average temperature for 12 hours is. My humidity is 6%, which is a concern. We'll see over the next 12 hours

If humidity is a concern put a small bucket of water in your grow tent. Do this till you reach your desired levels. If that doesn't work get a humidifier. 5% humidity is far to low. Definitely need to do something about that. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of tent did you get? I'm looking at one from HTG Supplies but there has been prior discussions of the quality. Still unsure
Ohh and nickbbad, thanks for the link. Tomorrow I will be reviewing that product for myself. Cheers
