New room construction

Hello all, I’m building a 6x6x5 room in my crawl space, which isn’t heated or cooled but stays cool in the summer and a little warmer than outside temperature in winter. So my plan is to insulate the room I’m building using spray foam and foam insulation board essentially creating a cooler. Then putting my 4x4x5 gorilla shortie grow tent inside the “cooler”. I’m thinking it will not be a issue keeping it cool in there during summer and should be easily heated in winter with a small heater. And since there’s a 2x2 area of space not being used by tent I should be able to draw in air air for intake and vent outside the “cooler”. Anyone think this will work? Or am I smoking way too much?

You'll want more than 5 ft of head room. The overall head will be less even with lighting and all.

I appreciate it. unfortunately that’s the only option for now. I plan on using LST and scrog methods. Hopefully I can spread them out and keep them low enough for this to work. I’ve seen lots of videos of people with the same height and get pretty good yields. I’m totally new to this so all I’m going by is vids, no experience whatsoever.

As your S/N suggests, are you planning on doing a DWC as well? Because that'll eat up even more headroom. In my opinion, with your setup i would do a SOG. That way you can keep your grows low. Definitely use LED lights to keep heights lower. And finally, due to the location. Your going to need hella ventilation. Crawl spaces aren't the greatest for airflow, and air exchanging. You'll need to up your game in the HVAC world, just a tip.

Attic crawlspace? Could you notch out holes in the flooring, and drop the (shallow as possible) R/DWC containers down in another 4-5 inches? Between the joists, insulation, etc.

Also, flush mount the lights into the rooms ceiling, up in between the rafters or whatever? Then dim as needed.

I think 5 ft would be way more useful if you could gain a few inches somehow. Either way, you should still be able to do a scrog if you plan it out carefully. Nothing that a little medium-high stress training can't handle.

You gotta be a contortionist to maintain a hydro system plus train plants in small areas though, I know.. so make sure you add handles everywhere, and you can hang from the ceiling/walls like spiderman without back problems.

I was also wondering if the crawl space in attic or basement. Basement would be better, I’d dig it out a foot or two deeper.

^ Exactly what I was thinking. He said he doesn't heat or cool it though, and I was thinking who heats/cools the crawlspace under the house?

If that was the case, I would also bury the entire system, so the lids are flush mount to the floor, gaining even a few more extra feet.

Heck, I might even keep digging, and discover an entire ancient tunnel network underground, with a lost city, like that one guy in Turkey. Look up man discovers tunnels, and you'll find hundreds of articles of different stories too all around the world.

Imagine finding a cave system under the house, and turning it into a grow bunker?

I already have it framed. I can’t finish the room and start grow for a couple months, coz I’m having new windows put in house. I don’t need someone fucker snooping around asking questions or wondering what’s inside. Once the subfloor is on I’ll have junk sitting on it so it appears to be a storage area. I’m also using a tent inside the room that way I can control the environment a little better. (Another member here brought that too my attention). And I think having a small well insulated room to control the temp of my intake air to the tent would be a little easier to do.
As far as the cave thing goes, it very well could happen. In 2020 before the world stopped I bouhht 19 acres in cave country USA. Tons of huge rocks. The ground isn’t worth a crap and they fly heavily for weed in summertime.which is why I’m looking to be inside.

Nice, good use of space. Might as well frame up a few actual storage areas while your at it.

Whats up above? Possible hidden hatch with a rug over it? ;)

My bedroom closet is above it. Funny you say that. When we were remodeling the house I wanted to put a trap door in the closet and use crawl space as a storm shelter. But my girlfriend talked me out of it. So now I’m gonna grow pot in it

That sucks we still have states where cops fly over looking, so stupid!

Did you dig holes and bury them po in concrete?
I would’ve came off that block wall 3 foot and dug at least a foot down in a 4x4 area.
Looking at that block walls brings back bad memories of cribbing crawl spaces and relaying block on my knees and back lmao.

dude, if I found a cave under my house I’d turn it into the best grow zone lol.

Amend the dirt in your crawl space. Cut the floors out of the house and grow up through into the attic.

Make one massive 8 or 10' diameter tree. One for the record books.

That’s crazy. I mean it would be cool as F having a tunnel like that. But what a lot of time money and hard damn work
