i'm looking to get a new setup going and i have $2500 budget.. i want a 5x5' 7'tall space (which won't be filled with plants) to have about 10 plants (5' tall) in soil.. the pots will be 1' high 5 gallon buckets i will have a 600watt hps over the plants and i'll have the exhaust fans on a temp gague so they turn off when the temp is perfect.. there will be always clean air coming into the room from an inlet fan.. i'm not sure if the hps will be a cooltube reflector yet.. but if not i'll just have to make due with what i have... i will paint the room flat white.. i'll give it 3 coats of paint to max the reflection... i'll hand water the plants.. is there anything else i should concider buying for the room to increase yeild or potency?

Personally I'd go with:

Flowering

2x Digital Lumatek 600w ballasts ~ $400
2x Cord set $50-60
2x Osram Plantastar 600w bulbs(absolute BEST bulbs on the market) ~ $150
2x diy cooltube using Pyrex bakearound ~ $50
7000 btu portable ac $200-210
inline ozone ~ $300
4x Reptile UVB 10 48 inch lamps ~$125
2x 2lamp T8 fixtures for Reptile lights(Walmart) ~$25
Random Ducting ~ $50
Elastomeric 95% reflective paint(flat white paint is 75%-Walmart/ace) ~$25
Mod a stanley blower fan(can buy at walmart use search button here) ~ 75
Total Flowering: ~ 1400-1500

Vegging
1-2x 4lamp t5ho 48 inch fixture ~ $125-$250 That is an absolute steal btw
4x t5ho 420nm 54w 48 inch ~ $60-75
4x t5ho 460nm 54w 48 inch ~ $60-75
Total Vegging: $400

Nutrients - To each their own here....
Fox Farm Trio ~ $50
Silica Blast ~ $20
Your prefered soil... I'd go ocean forest if you're going all soil.

Add plenty of fans for air circulation and strong stems.... 5-10 fans won't hurt. Add timers should definitely be less than ~200 into fans and timers ... cheap. Also add a cheap TDS & PH meter in order to watch those things as well... regardless everything is well under $2500.

Reasons for everything
HPS 600w... gives you around 7500 lumens per foot(bunk standard though)
Cord set.. needed to plug in lights.
Osram Plantastar 600w ... best PPF and PUR ratings of any bulb out there... nearly double Agrosun bulbs.
Cooltube... keep hps cool
inline ozone... kills smell add a diy carbon filter and use stanley blower fan mod and you're set.
UVB lamps and fixture.... increase trichome production of THC
Elastomeric paint... Extremely reflective and cheap
t5ho fixture... cheapest you'll ever find that fixture... great for vegging.
t5ho 420nm & 460nm you want to hit both Chlorphyll A & Chlorophyll B both wavelengths are required in order to do so to increase photosynthetic growth.

I like foxfarm nutrients and for organic I actually like bmo didn't know if you were going organic though. Silica Blast is to give your plants silicon to help with fatter stems... fatter stems can carry fatter buds. Since you're going soil consider buying some black strap molasses ... it is said to some respectable weight in soil grows.

Enjoy!!

It's good that you know it's gonna take a little bit of money to get into growing. $2500 is a nice round number to start off with.
I get so tired of the people that would like to start a grow with only a few hundred dollars, and want advice on how to setup a small budget grow op.
It's hard to give advice to people like that, because it takes money to grow.

First off, a 5X5X7 grow room sounds very nice. It shouldn't be that hard to grow 10 nice size plants in that grow room. If it was me, I'd grow 25 plants SOG style.
I'd get 2 - 600 watt cool tube lights.
You'll need 2 - 265 cfm blowers, one for inlet, the other for exhaust.
Also get 2 - wall fans on each side of the walls. 2 wall fans on each of the walls will keep air flow centered right above the plants, and it will keep your room cooler.
Adding CO2 is a must IMO. It definitely makes a huge difference. Your plants will grow 1/3 bigger and more dense.
A CO2 regulator, tank, and monitor will run you about $500-$700 depending on where you buy it. But if you'd like to see what a difference CO2 makes, grow one crop without it.
I don't know what kind of water you'll be using, Tap, distilled, or RO water.
Tap has too many impurities in it, and distilled can get awfully expensive and annoying having to pick it up all the time.
I'd get an RO system, there alot less money now, You can pick up a decent one at HD for about $150-$180. The filters last about a 1000 gallons. The filters will last you about 4-6 months.

Those are the big items I'd get, there's a ton of little shit you have to get like vent hosing, timers, surge protectors, etc. etc. but I'm sure you know all that.
But set aside at least $300-$500 for nutrient. What's the point of having a nice grow room if you don't use decent nutrient.

One last thing, you might want to use some kind of satin finish/gloss paint for your walls. You'll have to wash your walls from time to time, and flat paint doesn't wash very well.

Good Luck.

wow. great advice from above 2 members. id say always invest in something that will allow you to grow with experience (equipment/setup wise). id get (3) 600 because 5' is kinda tall and you want good penetration (about 1,300 from HTG, those come with MH conversion bulbs too, which are essential if you want stout bushy growth, and get the super-nova reflectors too, with glass +28). this will also give you enough light to expand in the future. the DIY cooltube is a good idea. use that, save some bills. the AC is a great idea. get a big one (12,000 btu or up; Portable Air Conditioner, Washer Dryer Combo, Ice Maker, Compact Refrigerator, Wine Cooler, Portable Dishwasher - Compact Appliance has good prices + free shipping; $400 for the best and biggest one) and make sure it utilizes the dual hose design, as this will maintain your atmosphere for C02 enrichment. get a co2 generator (you can find these used for under $200.00), and a controller (bit pricy at 300-400 bones). FFOF is the best soil and i wouldnt grow without it...definitly good idea about the RO filter. i would say skip the 300-500 dollers in nutes. you can grow beautiful plants with much cheaper nutes. i spent in total about 30 dollers on organic nutes, and my plants look like candy. healthy to boot aswell (do a search in here about Blue Mountain Organics)...anywho, you also need a few fans to chill those cooltubes, but it wouldnt need to be too strong if you used the big AC, maybe a 200 or 300 cfm 4 incher, with a fork connecting vents to all lights). im thinking this would run you about your limit. play it smart and you can get away for less (dont be afraid to DIY and try craigslist) good luck and happy growing, which ever set up you use!)

thanks guyss.. great ideass.. but i don't think i'll be using all the space to grow.. i've finially decieded that i'll use 3 rows of 3plants- 4'-5' i'll have about 1.5'x5' of that room as a work/storage space.. a place with a small table that i can put the plants up on to have a look every now and again... i'll have a wall dividing the 2 that can bea easily taken down for waterings... and in the storage area i'll have my schedules for waterings and such... if i use only that space would i be able to cover a 3x3' space with a 600watt hps and have a 250watthps on the other side in order to level the light out...? an i'd be using my mix of soil.. perlite/peat/compost/store bought soil.. i'd reuse all the soil but i'd just put it all in my big bin and mix some more compost in with it and a bucket of 1/3 stregnth nutes to bring the nutrient level back to normal..

i'll have a wall dividing the 2 that can bea easily taken down for waterings... and in the storage area i'll have my schedules for waterings and such... if i use only that space would i be able to cover a 3x3' space with a 600watt hps and have a 250watthps on the other side in order to level the light out...? an i'd be using my mix of soil.. perlite/peat/compost/store bought soil.. i'd reuse all the soil but i'd just put it all in my big bin and mix some more compost in with it and a bucket of 1/3 stregnth nutes to bring the nutrient level back to normal.. sound alright??? for lights and soil?

well id think the plants directly over the 600 will grow faster then the ones under the 250, try to get lights that are the same wattage if you want the most equal growth for your plants...i have 1600w, and sometimes i wish i had an extra 200w. i know that would give my plants the perfect extra push and im vegging 12 plants in a 4x8x7 space. trust me, if your growing in soil, lights should be the thing you spend the most on...

Bagel is right you're not evening anything out UNLESS that 250w is a MH and used for vegging. 600w hps is the most efficient you can get right now-even more efficient than 1000w hps per WATT. Keep an even distribution of light on your grow space and I would use a 600w per every 3x3 space to get the most out of your space. Extra light is never a bad thing.

well i was thinking about the extra cost every month on my power bill i don't want it to rise too much seen i'm living in the house myself.. i was going to use the idea of turning the lights on at night for flowering.. and then they'd be off all day... but what how much would 2 600watts add to my bill every month

well im using about 2800watts total power for my grow, 20 hours on and 4 hours off, and it only adds about 100 dollars extra a month...

alright thanks. so that'd be about a 50$ raise with the total growroom.. because the fans and dehumidifier will burn power 2..

i'm unsure where i will get all of the gear to yet because i don't live near any places which sell this stuff and i don't like to order stuff off the nett so i guess i'll have to go on a roadtrip with a truck
