"It's really not the same type of marijuana ," Volkow said in a telephone interview.
"This could explain why there has been an increase in the number of medical emergencies involving marijuana ."
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Adminstration, marijuana was involved in 242,200 visits to hospital emergency rooms in 2005. This means that the patient mentioned using marijuana and does not mean the drug directly caused the accident or condition being treated, SAMHSA says.
I like how they said those folks just mentioned they had used "erb...WTF, that just goes to show you that they take the first easy target and blame it.......I mean so what if these kids are getting so high they puke, good lesson learned if you ask me....just like alcohol.....you abuse it.....it turns bad....same thing with anything else....Even if I got to the ED with my asthma I never tell them I smoke 'erb, I just tell them I smoke cigs......never been a problem for me....I guess if I told them I did 4-5 bong loads before my asthma attack sure they are gonna say oh it was THE MAURIJUANA....... WTF I'm not stupid, so it seems the younger ones don't know how to handle the situation if they go to the ER. I am not saying with hold information that is going to hurt you when it comes to treatment....there are none that I know of...even if you were to be adiment that you never smoked dope there is nothing they can give you that will have a deadly effect on you b/c you didn't tell them you burned a joint today......Just my 2 cents.....
