new plant

The leaves of my two week old plant are drooping and the edges are curled. I water them every other day, 12 hrs of light. I haven't given them any plant food or fertilizer yet. Would a little miracle grow help? I've grown nice plants outside. This is my first indoor plant. I'm using 120 w spot grow light. Do you think that may be too strong? Its about 14 inches from the plant. I bought a 65w spot grow light. Would that be better than the 120w? Thanks

too much water. no nutes for 4 weeks. let them dry out completely to the point of drooping and then water.

Sounds like you might be overwatering, buy a moisture meter they're cheap. You also want 18 hours of light per day NOT 12 as you mentioned. I would personaly say way from the miracle grow.

Thanks for the info. When I grew an outdoor plant, I was watering them every day. They grew like crazy.I guess there's a differance in outdoor hot humid weather and indoors using a light bulb. So I should stick with the 120w spot grow light?

If that is an incandescent light bulb, it won't do what you want. Even if it's a grow bulb, it's got a lousy spectrum, and your plants will suffer.

Go with flourescent or HID (HPS or MH)

I went to a flourescent. I have it 2" above the plant. I watered it yesterday for the 1st time in 3 days after the soil dried. Now it looks whorse than it did before. The two top leaves did look good before I changed things like I was advised. Now they're turning. The new leaves coming out, about 1/16" are coming out brown. When I was using the grow bulb 10 to 12" from the plant, and watering them. At least the new leaves looked good. Help!!!!!

18-24 hours of light not 12
Floro should be 1 inch from your plant (max. benefit)
Do you ph test?
What is the temp of your grow room?
Do you have a fan blowing on your plants?
What kind of light(s) do you using (be detailed)?

I had already adjusted the height of the light to 2". And went from a grow bulb to a flourescent 23W CFEL bulb. And I started giving it 18hrs of light days ago. Should I cut the brown edges off the leaves or leave them? I switched back to my 125w grow bulb last night. And the plant seemed to have perked up. But I was told that grow bulbs won't give it the light it needs. The room temp. is about 72.

he said if the bulb was an incandescent bulb it would be bad, and it's not as good. the cfl should do you better if this is the case, do not cut your plant, and mogie's questions should tell us what the problem is.

I don't have much experience with organic, I prefer Hydro. But, U do need to start with a good soil. something like black diamond. A Ph meter for U'r water, and I'd check on a good T5 lighting system. Pioneer makes some very nice florescent lighting in all sizes. Also, and this is probably a biased opinion, but U might want to try soilless. It's faster, and U have more control over U'r plant.
