New Member! Taking over an existing grow.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I've been following for months but have not been seriously growing, just on a hobby level. But within a weekend, all that has apparently changed:

I'm a California medical marijuana patient and I've been interested in establishing a small professional grow in a bedroom in my home for a few months now. I've been working with a regular dealer for a few months who also grows. My dealer has an industrial set up and a small home grow tent. He's very experienced compared to me. But he's having issues with his current living situation and has offered me a deal to complete his home tent grown plants for him at my house.

What I have purchased from him:

  • 10x5 Grow Tent
  • 1 1000 Watt HPS (Economy Reflector)
  • 4 400 Watt HPS Sun System (W/ Air vents)
  • 1 400 Watt HPS (Economy Reflector)
  • 1 13000 BTU Ground A/C unit
  • 1 Exhaust fan with charcoal filter.
  • 24 Kush Plants (Banana, Bubba, Purple) that are 4 weeks into flowering
The plants are soil grown and looked perfect before we made the move. Now, two days later, we're seeing a few issues. Part of the deal required me to grab the plants immediately; I'm not fully prepared for the set up so it's still a work in progress. So I'm starting this post to ask some experts along the way.

Current Set Up Issues:

Electric:
My house, the house we have moved the plants to, does not have 220 power. Nor has it been properly wired to run 3000 watts of lighting in one room. This is preventing us from running all the lights initially. We plan to have a dedicated 220 line ran to the grow room but we were told we will need specific transformers for our lights since they are run on regular 110 power. Would anyone have any recommendations for how to handle preparing the room to effectively run 3000 watts of lighting? We plan on running extension cords from other rooms temporarily to avoid blowing the breaker.

Heat:
For the first 2 days, we have run at half light with only 1400 watts of light. This is because it has taken us two days to acquire our A/C unit. Because of this, our tent has reached temps of 95 with lights on for the past two nights. We finally installed our A/C unit today but we've noticed some discolored and curling leaves:

We are assuming the yellowing and curling is a result of overheating but we're not positive. We are almost certain it isn't fert burn since we have yet to water or fert them our selves (only got them two days ago). Would anyone have an idea why we would be experiencing this? It isn't too severe yet but we want to fix the issue before it gets worse.

I have a few other issues but this is already an obnoxiously long first post so I'll leave it here. Well, I'll leave it with a few pretty photos of our crop; These are Bubba, Banana and Purple kush, Six weeks into flowering:

No Co2?

The plants look to be a bit heat stressed...if it persists on the newer leaves you might have a problem, but i doubt it!

For the power problem ask the power company to upgrade the box...most do it with no questions, mind you i'm from Canada, and don't know the laws of Cali...but i would think it would be pretty easy...look for a guy names FDD 2BLK, he'll be able to help you on that situation most likely since he's from Cali and knows his shit!

Damn dude, you really have your hands full. Nice setup
I have had to "strengthen" circuits before but it involved trial, error, electrocution and blowing things up before I got it right.
If you're a legal grower you should really get a licensed electrician to wire it up. I think I remember hearing something about hundreds of thousands of houses catching fire every year due to faulty circuitry.
Over time I have learned to use drip loops and hang powerboards etc from the wall or ceiling to avoid numerous electrocutions from a mix of water and not giving a fuck. 240V/AC kicks like a mule.

Some say that if you mention certain words FDD shows up as if by magic.

Yo! OP.

Hire an Electrician,

Hey RustyC, how's it going? Yeah, had that same mule hit me. It ain't the most pleasant thing ever happened to me either.

OP, how many fire extinguishers do you have on hand?

You need to fix up the ELECTRICITY situation before ya get balls deep in a grow. Hate to see Girls die.

Hire a Pro, if You Don't Know.

Main Breaker Box at house upgraded
Sb in Flower Room
Sub in Veg Room

Don't mess with the power dude, it'll get ya everytime.

Wow ...in a t the deep end .... Your doing well not to panic ... stay calm and everything will be fine :)

Sounds like a decent set up ! ... How big is your fan and filter ? .... If the set up is exactley the same as your buddy had it ( BUT with less lighting ) and your fan is running and venting correctley ... i dont think its heat stress ... Think about it ... Less lights ... same venting ...I don't think the lack of AC would show them kind of signs so fast ... so maybe it was like that prior to the move but was not noticed ?

You have the AC now ..and less lighting untill you get the electrics sorted out ...so you should be ok :)

As pointed out above .... Don't mess with electrics if you can avoid it ....Get a sparky in to have alook at it , If you start overloading things it will burn your shit down !

Great first post ...Welcome to Riu ..and feel free to post LONG posts ... we LOVE reading here :)
