Hey everyone,
Here is the latest in CFL technology. Along with the 125 and 250 watt monster 5 and 8U CFL's comes the new 5U Rosebud CFL. The rose bud CFL is 30% more efficient than the conventional and U type CFL's. The spiral and U type CFL's ALL have an efficiency rating of 60-65 Lumins/ Watt. The new rosebud's are rated at 75-80 lumins/watt. This means a 105 watt rosebud is as bright as a 150 watt 5U CFL. The only down side is that the rosebud only comes in the maximum size of 105 watts however this allows the bulb to use a standard E26 lamp base rather than a mogul and still have the output of a 5U. Why are they so efficient? the shape of the bulb allows more light to shine through the larger air gaps between the bulbs tubes were as the conventional spiral and U type traps the light in the inner core of the bulb. Heat is also dispersed better.
