New Grower

Hey guys, 1st post. Hope you guys can help me
I was gifted a 400w HPS setup (Ballaste, Shade, and even a bulb). I am not sure I can use this because I cant make a noticable dent in the electric bill or my parents will start asking questions. What does it cost to run one of these lights 16/8? My grow space is about 3x3x6 metal box that isent air-tight but I am going to vent it with a 6" inline duct fan that I hope will suck enough air to make it low pressured so all the smell is out thru a carbon-filter and in thru the tiny spaces around the door. Since it is my first grow, I was thinking about something easy and auto-flowering like Lowryder 2. How is the smell with this strain? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to do my research before I start modifying my box. Ill get pics asap.

I wouldn't suggest doing anything like that in your parents house when they haven't given the ok. IF you are desperate to grow i would use a simple cfl setup with only a couple plants. try finding a friend u trust enough that has their own place and set up a grow with the 400w there. the spike in the bill wont be much but the smell and overall baitness of a 400w grow op in your parents house is too much.

if you grow in a house of people and you grow and they dunno they will know unless you vent like a $$$.

actually, I love in a converted garage that is not even connected to the house. So it is not like the smell will loft down the hall. And my mom knows I smoke, I just havent got 'written' permission to grow. It is actually the neighbors I am worried about smelling it.

you could always just spray ozium every day.
incense is good too
