New grower needs HELP on Transplanting

Hi guys
Here are DAY 13 of my 2 new grows in a 18oz clear solo cups growing in soil in a grow tent with 18/6 light

The one on the left is OG Kush and the one on the right is Blue Amnesia.

The Blue Amnesia is a little stunted after I removed her helmet head few days ago

Somehow the Blue amnesia (lil one) has more root showed ob the bottom.

I'm gonna transplant it to 2 gallon fabric pot.
and worrying about it because
I read on the forum that transplant timing is everything,
some says to transplant within 14 days and some says to transplant after it has developed 3rd nodes

Please advice

I transplant at around 14 days, but mine are much bigger and have much more root mass.

Personally I’d suggest waiting until they get bigger and have a lot more roots. Transplanting those without much roots will probably cause a large mess of collapsed soil.

This is what my two week old plant roots look like.

I’d wait to transplant they have plenty of room to keep growing you got another week or so in the one cups I usually do mine between nine and 14 days but they are much more developed in the root area.

You need to be keeping the soil moist so the roots can be moving throughout the entire grow media. It looks really dry. Are you just watering in one spot? How often do you water and how much do you give them?

Anyone here that said you should wait on transplanting those is spot on. Transplanting is the easiest way to kill a plant or stunt its growth. Those plants could live well for another 2 to 3 weeks without harm. What type of feeds have they received so far?

They are just starter pots filled with 100% coco and fed daily.

They can stay in those cups for a month only needed to be transplanted then for food. My starter pots are about half that size. I'll leave autos in them for 3wks due to early flowering photos stay a month. Autos into 5 gallons, photos into 2 gallons. After in 2 gallons for a month transplant into final pot or up pot. If in quality soil and using tap water you shouldnt have to worry about feeding until in final pot for a month. After a couple wks start watering from the bottom most times it'll help with root growth. If the cups don't have enough holes just heat up a nail or needle something sharp that'll easily melt and slide through the plastic.

thanks for your replt

I water them every 3rd-4th day with ph-ed 6.3 tap water. I water around the edge of solo cup usuallu around 40-50 gram
it is a 18oz solo cup

I will wait for the root to develop more like a root ball before transplant.

I have not given her any nutrients except superthrive solution (2 drops per 1 liter)

any recommendation for the food?

Tbh I've never experienced transplant shock, you must have to pretend it's a battle royal while transplanting. Water from the bottom while still in cup. I'll transpant autos once photos twice.

They kinda look over watered, stems not supposed to be brown yet. That blue isn't big enough for a full cup of water yet gotta mist or water light the first week or 2. Also lacking growth for 18 days maybe stunted due to overwatering

I water her every 3rd day though...

Plants and or pots will tell you when they need water. Just need to learn dry weight from water weight. That's once your roots start developing tho. I water daily but my pots are small. When I started in solo cups I'd just mist 6 to 18 mists on each side of the plants base. I wouldnt mist again until 1- top soil appeared to be dry 2- when I felt top soil it felt dry meaning it was displaced or spread around easily, when soils moist itll stick together lastly 3- if the top soil looked and felt dry when I gently moved the top layer around does the layer underneath look and feel dry only then would I mist again. That will suffice once a day then 2ce a day when I had to mist more than 2ce I'd start watering small amounts like a shot glass around plants base. Once that was dry needing watered more than once a day I'd increase water amount. When you are able to fill most of the cup or transplant then you can start watering off of weight. If that's tricky fill up a empty pot with dry dirt. Water plants when they are close to that dry weight, only once you start using more water. Worry less about underwatering if you check on plants multiple times a day which many new growers cant resist, you'll notice the first signs of drooping and be able to water. Overwatering will hinder growth. Not saying it's okay to underwater but until one can judge the amount and when underwatering is the lesser of the two evils.

Oh I forgot when I used cups I also had sandwich baggies over cup for the first week or two of sprout. In the right conditions having a dome on a sprouted plant will cause damping off I didn't have that issue I veg under florescent so the light isn't strong. But the baggie kept the soil moist alot longer.

When you do give it water, give it evenly and thoroughly until you see a fair amount of run off coming out of the cup if your waiting that long in between watering. You can have dry pockets forming if it's been 3-4 days and you want to be sure you're soaking the entire media when you do decide to water. As long as you have a well draining media you can soak the hell out of them and then you can let them dry. I've never had Solo cups go 4 days personally. My media drains much faster than that and I water daily usually or every other day at least. If they feel light they need to get watered, no matter how many days it's been. After soaking them, pick up the cup and feel it for the weight in your hand. Get used to how it feels. Close your eyes and just concentrate on the feeling of it. Then grab one that's dry and do the same thing. When the cup feels light it's time to water, you're going to get used to it fairly quickly. I'm going to respectfully disagree with the misting idea. Misting is just going to help raise the humidity level in the immediate area of the cup briefly but unless you're doing it really heavily it's not doing a good job of deep watering. You want deep even watering so that the roots explore the entire media and fill the whole cup up with roots, that's the goal. That's why watering around the stem is a bad idea as is watering around the edges and so is misting. Unless you're doing it because you like spraying a whole bunch of times to soak the entire cup instead of just using a syringe or turkey baster. Everyone has their own way to grow but roots are going to look for water and even consistent moisture is the key in my opinion.

I am still finding a proper way of watering and don't want to over water her.
I might use syringe next so the water can reach the bottom of the cup.

When I was first getting started a breeder named Duke Diamond told me to use a turkey baster and try to get used to placing the water in a focused way. It made me really pay attention to where I was putting each drop of water. It sounds like hippie, zen BS but I still water all my plants with a turkey baster, even my 5 gallons in pots that drink a gallon a day. It holds a little more than 2 ounces so a gallon means 64 shots with the turkey baster to water the plant. What it also does is help prevent soil compaction from dumping water on too quickly. I smoke a bowl in between plants to break up the sessions and focus on the soil conditions and check for fungus gnats while I'm watering. It really put you in touch with your plants as it forces you to slow down. It's just one way to do things for sure and definitely not the way for someone with a busy life.
