New Cool Tube to Ballast Question

looks like you will have to hardwire it.either cut the plug off the cooltube and cut the wire going to the lamp and splice the wires together or buy a female end that fits into the cooltube' plug and cut the wire going to the lamp, wire in the new plug end to connect it to the cooltube.
either way, make sure you get polarity right- the bulb will light if reversed but not safe & will burn up lights quickly

Thank you for your response. I will try this when I get the cooltube (tracking says it will be here Tuesday). :eyesmoke:

So how does one determine polarity. I'm assuming I can easily do it with the new wire by tracing which wire is attached to the power on the plug, right? And for the ballast, can I use a multimeter to determine power/ground, if so how would I accomplish that?

Thanks

After you cut and peel back the outer wire jacket the inner wires will be coloured.

Usually you will have a green (ground) a white and a black (or sometime the black wire is brown or even red).

Now inside whatever style of plug u buy u will note the three terminal screws to attach the wires. Normally one of the terminal screws is a green (ground) and another screw will be a darker colour, say dark brassy colour or even painted a darker colour, than the other terminal which would typically be silver colour, this gets the white wire. This darker terminal gets the darker wire (the black/brown/red wire). Attach the proper wires to these terminals, tape up the ends (if needed) and close up the plug...viola.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your help, just so happens both sets of wires had green, black, and white. Simple, wasn't expecting that
