New box

Hello all,

Making an old 6-drawer dresser(3 drawers/side) that's been collecting space and dust into a two compartment grow box in garage. Each compartment is approx. 26h x 25w. The box alone has its challenges but my biggest hurdle is combating the winter because the garage isn't heated. How do I keep conditions ideal inside said box DISCREETLY, without running a whole greenhouse set up and even better running up electricity? Thank you all in advance for your advices.

How cold of winters do you experience? Is the Garage insulated at all, does it retain heat, or is it just like being outside?

The lights you would have to go with in this space, are cfl's or a T5 light setup, LED is cool but cost very much to buy. these lights will give off heat but not too much if the garage stays very cold. Remember you need to intake fresh air into your grow room (or dresser in this case) and that air will be the temp of where its pulling from...

Maybe look into just heating the garage, buying a small electric unit (they really get nice and toasty now, energy efficient) and warm your garage.

Theres a bunch of helpful people on here im sure they will chime in soon also, but these are some ideas for now..:peace:

It can get very cold here and the garage isn't insulated. If it's 15 F outside, it's probably 13F at best in the garage. Working late nights in the garage in past cold winters, the space heater I have will keep an area warm as long as it's on. Was wondering how well would an electric blanket draped on it, in conjunction with a small, low wattage space heater on timers do the trick?

Sounds like my garage in our winter's. You'll either need a small space heater or take them inside with you at lights out. The latter I did after keeping my heater at the right temp. My cab put there is lined with reflectix which is great at keeping heat in but too cold is too cold. The heater would get it too hot. So my solution was drag em in and out every am and pm.

So if you go the route with a space heater find one with a temp gauge. You can even use a propane heater to heat the garage to an ambient temp. Needless to say I bought a tent and stuck it in my closet.

the trouble u are going to have is keeping the heat in roots and the air temps

the blanket will not work do it does not have a temp controll......... low med high (it will get to hot)

u will need to make a little box for the planter lined with a heating mat and a temp controller ...........this should solve the root trouble

the air on the other hand........ the space heater at the correct distance from the intake would work but u will need to fire proof yourself........... u would tell u to look for a space heater that is newer with a tilt swtich (it tips more then 10 degrees from center it shuts off automatically)

i would not let the air get lower then 55 (this triggers a change in the plant in bud color do not mess with untill u got exp under the belt......this will mess with the chemicals it makes and over all thc lvl )
