You'll want to get some 6500K lights in there, they like that spectrum better to veg under. Bring the lights down to within two inches of your plants - they are starting to stretch, this will stop it. Is that aluminum foil on the walls? If so - you should take it out, it isn't recommended. A better, cheap alternative would be an emergency blanket, $2.88 at Wal-Mart in the camping section.

I've got a shoestring grow thread on the go and there's some pics of my space blanket cabinet in there, lit with CFLs. I'm new to this as well, but the advice to go with bluer light (6500K) and closer to the plants is what worked for me. Save the 2700K for flowering if you don't have an HPS. I found that tube flourescents run cooler than CFLs so you can get them right next to the leaves without cooking them.

they definetely seem to be reaching for the light....try moving your cfls closer and perhaps a a couple more cfls.
warm spectrum will be good all around and esp. during flowering where as a cool spectrum will help alot in veg state

yea i have moved the lights alot closer and they arent reaching anymore and i got 4 2700 that all i got kinda doing this without any money and i read u could use watever cfls if u dont have the choose so ima see how it plays out here are more recent pics taken today 24 on zero off

I'm sure I'm going to sound like a dick here but I see you don't put a lot of effort into learning how to spell, capitalize, or punctuate in your sentences so I would assume you're not going to put a lot of effort into your grow either. The stretching is pretty good proof that you haven't read much about how to grow, so. . . good luck!

I didn't see any fans in your setup...do you have something moving the air...this will strengthen the stalk. Flat white paint has more reflectabilty than gloss paint and FAR more than some "reflective" paper. foil and other reflectors can create hot spots and burn your plant. good luck !

Just curious here hotrod, but how do you can you possibly get hotspots from a CFL ? I can see it if you're using a light that kicks out more IR light (heat), but a CFL doesn't generate any damaging heat unless it's actually touching the leaf.

I agree generally about the flat white, (I'm going to prime the walls in my veg area when I get the time)

As un-scientific as it is, in my flowering cabinet the space blanket walls don't trigger the flash on my camera yet white styrofoam I put up does. This is with the camera sitting on its back on the table between the three plants I've got in there, so it's an attempt to use the camera's CCD as a light meter circuit (with the lights directly in front turned off of course).
That tells me that there's more overall light getting to the center of the three plants with the 'foil' then there is with the flat white styro and isn't that what it's all about ?
I'm trying to be an ass, I just don't get how you could generate reflected hotspots from a 'cool' light source.

Your plants are looking better. I know how tough it is to grow on a budget, it isn't easy.
The last thing I would add, is when you transplant your babies, bury them to an inch below the first set of leaves - that will take care of the stretching that already happened.
