New $4 drying box/chamber, what you think

Getting ready to harvest in a couple weeks and been thinking of constructing a simple dry box that can be out in plain view and still be effective.

I was at Wallyworld w/ the wife and kids and saw plastic totes on sale and had to give this idea a shot.

I drilled vent/intake holes in the box, drilled smaller holes ner the top to run some string through and cut a hole to mount a computer fan that will be pulling air. Just have to setup a cheap DIY carbon filter and she's ready to go i think.

Seems like a good setup in theory, we'll see in a few weeks if it does in the real world.

Funny you posted that, i said to the ball and chain last night "know what baby, i bet there's someone selling these on Ebay or something for $75"
This is the one I was talking about. I think it might cost this much due to the carbon filter it comes with....still not worth 100 though! Market that and give em' some competition!

Am I missing something here ? It looks like the fan pulls air from one side of the outside of the box and pulls it through to the other side without ever pulling air from inside the box?

Mipbar, with a box that small, you don't need an intake fan. The holes drilled into the box are enough for intake, and the exhaust fan will create a vacuum to pull the air throughout the whole box. :D My 2'x4' grow tent only has an exhaust fan, no intake fan just yet (could only afford one at a time LOL); the vacuum is quite enough to keep everything moving.

I actually emailed the person who made it with the same question when I was thinking of buying it. The lid (not pictured) has little holes drilled all over, and like Kat said with a small enough box it creates a vacuum. :leaf::leaf:

Update:

I ran it through a test run using a Male and a stunted female.
I switched the fan around to exhaust and it worked great....
Its now got some decent size colas in it that I harvested last night, so they seem to be drying nicely, not too fast not too slow.

yea i agree with cflman def. need to keep that at between 65-75F and humidity 45%-55% get a hygrometer its like 8 bucks at walmart tells you both temp and humid. so you can get max potence and taste.

nicely done...

there's a DIY box that's like this one...

i'm gonna use something like this probably...

like some one said... put the fan the other way, to pull air out, the vacuum should be enough....
