I just got my 47.25" x 47.25" x 78.75 grow tent and i was wondering if anyone could help me decide what size hps and how many plants i could grow in it.
Need to know what light an how many plants i can fit in the grow tent

Depends on what strain & the style you wish to grow.
Just to give you an example, I have a DR150, roughly the same size tent you have.
I burn an air cooled 1kw bulb. It has its own fan. I'm able to vent it outside the room to help control temps.
I have 4 2'x2' trays so I can have multiple strains going.
I start flowering at around 6". Each tray holds 9 pots (square 6x6x7 magnums). Hydro with 3" RW blocks & clay pellets. Top feed.
My first harvest (single tray) netted me 12 oz's of dried goods. (THC Bomb)
My WW won't get close to that (finishing now).
In summary, I have 36 pots in a 4'x4' area which is thriving.
Some will argue that it is too young, too many, too close.
It's working for me.
There is no profit in growing stems.
