So I recently switched to the three part advanced nutrients and I still have a lot of the fox farms tiger bloom and grow big left over. Can I use the fox farms nutrients with the advanced nutrients.. I would assume that I would obviously use less then the bottle tells you to use.... I'm asking cuz instead of buying more from advanced nutrients right now use what I have already invested in with fox farms ....instead of buying some big bud and all that good stuff....and I'm going to buy the advanced nutrients line up but money is tight right now
I've been using AN for 20 years. All I use is the 3-part. Big Bud and I like some Rhino Skin for the DWC when I do those. Any old CalMag will do and some epsom salts are handy. You do not need the whole line-up to grow lots of great bud.
I use RO water only and with the AN you never have to think about the pH and should not try to adjust it. Go ahead and use the other stuff but don't mix the two in the same feeding tho I might add some REMO kelp or candy sometimes with no ill effects.
I used to use half the max at 2ml/L but now tend to feed each watering with just 1ml/L to keep the nutrient supply more even for the plants growing in soilless ProMix HP.
I like to give half a dose of Big Bud along with a good dose of all the nutes a week before flipping to flower. Really helps set the bud sites and make more of them faster. I've tried waiting and that was disappointing in comparison. They get the other half at the flip. The stretch period is a huge growth spurt for the plants so you want all the nutes available and is about the only time where having the P higher in ratio to the K works for pot. After the stretch feeding slows to pre-flower veg levels and I switch to a Lucas Formula style of feeding using no Grow and half as much Micro as Bloom. Some epsom salts boosts the Mg and S which they really like to help produce more resin and are the main things in AN's Overdrive other than K so if you have a source of just K like I do I like to add a bit of that as well. Tomatoes like the P/K ratio the other way around and that's why most bloom boosters have more P than K but too much P gives that 'chem' taste to buds more than too much N. Saltpeter is a good source of K but also adds N and you don't want too much N in later flowering. If the old fan leaves are yellowing then a little extra N won't hurt as the plant wants some for fattening the buds too and yellowing leaves indicates that the plant is stealing it from the old leaves.
Just try not to feed too much all through the plants life or it will store extra nutes in the leaves which will lead to Toxic Salts Buildup and start frying leaves around mid-flower so if yellowing leaves are going all hard, thick and crispy instead of soft, thin and pliable it is TSB and not lack of nutes.
Good luck and good growing!
