Hello everyone, new to the forums here! I'm from southern Canada and wanted to grow some weed this winter so I ordered 5 femenized northern lights(auto) and 5 of auto blue something...I have been reading for the past 3-4 weeks all over, different grow methods, that kinda thing. I will be growing in our little outdoor saunu that we don't use anymore, area is about 5x5. I have gotten pretty confused after reading so much information, so I was hoping there would be someone willing to give me direct answers to direct questions. :) They are as follows,
1:After germination, I plant them in a plastic 16oz cup, and water them once until I transplant them, or twice? or 3 times?
2:What type of light is the best for growing efficiently? Will one 400watt hps grow 5-10 plants?
3:what is the light ratio for the first 4 weeks of keeping the plant in the veg state?

1) every time the soil is dry
2) I have 3 strains totalling 24 plants under a single 400w. I don't veg though. YMMV. With a 4 week veg, 4-6 plants is reasonable (strain dependent)
3) 18/6, 20/4, 24/0 (or anything in between)
Bonus) don't germinate until:

- you understand the different type and purpose of lights: CFL, 6500k, 2700k, HPS, MH etc
- you know what pH is, and you have a pH tester
- you are familiar with the basic premise of how a grow room ventilation system ought to work (large or small, the object is the same)
- know how temperature and humidity affect the plants
- know how to identify basic problems (particularly over and under watering)

If you're confused, focus on one thing at a time. Starting new requires a lot of patience and a lot of reading. Read the link itsme posted above, and the rest of the Sticky posts in the newb section, and head over to http://growweedeasy.com/the-basics-of-growing-marijuana

Happy growing :)

You are growing auto's so I would think that veg and flower light cycles r a mute point. Check specs on strain but typically auto's do best with full light cycle. Im not knowledgable when it comes to auto's but the one i did grow was on a 20 hr cycle and it did ok lol. IMO if doing grow under lights auto's r not great choice but i haven't tried one recently. Have they gotten better? Lol
