Hello, I have never grown any before. I decided I would try and grow a couple plants for personal use. I just put some seeds in a little thing thats outside on a porch. About 5-6 have sprouted and are growing out. Now I have no idea where to go from here. I am willing to put some money into this. Now I was wanting to grow them outside on the porch, but I have a section in my closet I could use too.

I was wondering what should I do and when I should do it. Do I really need to buy all these ventilators and build a setup etc? Do I need to transfer them into there own containers in bought soil mix?

thanks

Grow outside. Cheaper and easier. Get several CFLs for those rainy days when you need them inside and to complete your 18 hours of light during veg. If you planted in decent soil, no need to add fert or nutes until about a month in. Water them every couple days - check by sticking your finger in soil about 1" and if dry, water. After the plant has about 5 or 6 alternating nodes (branches) and is about 12" you can flower (you can flower smaller plants if time is an issue). You need 12 hours light and 12 of complete darkness to flower. There you go, the 5 min version of Pot Growing 101.

Good luck.

Actually in thinking about it I'm going to try and do what you did hearmenow. I have a closest that I can use only for growing. Its one of the small ones that go under stairs.

Some questions
I just put the seeds in backyard dirt in a container and they are ALL together. I had no idea about root intangling, I would say there about 1.5 inches tall. Should I transplant now? What Should I transplant them in? They are getting ofcourse outside sun till it goes down and then they get no light until I end up buying some

If i do transplant them how long do I keep them under 24/7 light?
How should I go about watering them? I've read on here I should use tap water that has sat out for around 24hours? Does it matter the temp of the water?

When I put them in the closet I'm going to have lights hanging over top of the plants. They plants will be in a plastic crate. What should I cover the crate in to reflect light?

Once I get my lights should I let them sit outside for as long as its sunlight then put them under the indoor lights?

When and what fertilizers should I use?

Transplant ASAP. Some would urge you to transplant into a gallon pot and then again into a bigger (3 or 5 gallon) later again. I went from a 2" tray to a 5" pot then to 3 gallon pot. If it looks like you might suffer root damage, you might want to dip the plant roots into a rooting hormone (available at WM) and I would water with Superthrive added.

I never kept mine under 24 hour light. You risk a male or hermie. I went with 18/6.

Water temp - room temp. Never too cold or too hot. Unchlorinated.

You can cover the crate as long as you have good air flow through there. The lights will create a lot of heat.

I leave mine as long as possible outside, usually up until 7:30pm here. During veg, I completed my 18 hours of light inside.

There are many nutes/ferts that work well. I am currently using Fox Farm products. Grow Big, Big Bud and Super Bud are the 3 you'll want. They are available online or from some hydro stores. I got mine from a Smith and Hawken store nearby. Also start off with 1/4-1/2 of what the directions recommend initially and slowly build up. Molasses added during flower helps to swell the buds too. Superthrive a must too. Helps with any stress and provides excellent nutrients.

Good luck.

bury it in more soil so the main stem is more well-supported and increase the lights. plants stretch because there's a lack of light or the light's too far away.

I have a question. Will my closet that is around 3feet wide and round 7 feet tall and goes back around 7-8. Thats plenty big enough to grow weed in it right? I plan to start completely over this weekend. I want to buy some crates thats about the size of a big toy box. Cover it completely in mylar(think thats what its called) and have 2 of them with 3 plants in them each. Have the lights hanging off a 6ft portable clothes rack till they get bigger. I still need to know how many and what kind of lights will be good for the start and then the flowering. Thanks :O
