GROWING SYSTEM
I am going to be using some form of aeroponics. Still working out a few details, but I have a few questions. Basically will be 8 rows of 3-4 plants (most likely the 4). Each row will be a week of flowering. I will be doing a SOG once I have my mothers. I have room for them to get up to say 48", but I want them to be about 36" - 40" (max) and I will be cutting the bottom 12" - 15" off to allow for airflow, let the plant concentrate on makeing the top cola and other buds nicer, and also so my 600 watt light will have enough penetration for the plant. Each Plant will be in 2 gallon buckets. I am trying to find these 2.6 gallon buckets that are the ideal size, but I might be SOL. Was going to use 3.5" netpots to hang into the buckets. Are these Big enough?
1 - Aero Sprayers
A - I was looking at the ez-clone red replacement ones. Are these good for nutrient solution?
B- Can they be installed to run from the top down? Like from the lid facing down towards the bottom. Is a set-up like that ok? Or is it better to have the sprayers at the bottom facing up so the roots grow towards it?
2 - Timers for the Sprayers
I would need a timer or something to set the mists to go on. I have read about the Velleman, but I don't think it will do what I need. Is there something like this that can be set for long times?
Nutrients
I am going to go with Advanced and see how it goes. I was going to go with FF originally, but said wtf. Do you really go 50% strength than what is given on the Advanced Nutrient Chart?
1 - How often do you set the misting for in a aero-ponics system? 1 minute on - 4 minutes off? Do you feed at night? I would think you would so the roots do't dry out. I'm pretty sure not as often as when the lights are on.
2- How much do the plants drink per week? I'm sure at different stages they drink more, but what is a max or some sort of something I can follow (4 plants). If using these pricey nutrients, I am trying to figure things out and so I have a idea if the reservoir I have in mind is going to be big enough (5 gallon for 4 plants. Was planning on topping off once in the middle of the week and the last day there should be 2 gallons left).
Grow Medium
At first I will have seeds and then I was thinking of putting them in rockwool and when they get the roots, put them in net baskets with hydroton. Since I am using a aero system and the water will drain back to the reservoir, I don't want a medium that will break up into particles. Keep the pump and sprayers clean. Is this the right way or I am crazy?
Air Stone Pump
By my understanding I need a dual bladder one? I need one where I can use 8 air stones on it for 5-6 gallon reservoirs. A little help would be appreciated.
