Need opinions on lighting for stealth grow, pictures of box inside.

So i found this crappy cabinet last summer and didnt know it would ever serve a purpose. I left it outside for the winter and it definitely suffered. Let the resurrection begin! There was a wooden shelf in the middle which i removed and i gave a light sand to get the white paint to stick. Went with the cheapest flat white i could find. The interior volume is 25.5'' tall, 23'' wide, 17'' deep. My only problem now is lighting. I would love to fit in a small 150w hps up at the top and throw in 4 x 120 mm case fans (2 intake and 2 exhaust) but im worried about heat. i was also considering abandoning the stealth and cutting a square off the top big enough for the light. i figure with the ballast, bulb and housing outside the box it would reduce heat substantially. Of course the fall back is CFLs. I mainly want to do 12/12 from seed grows and my only issue is that i really want to just set up the cfls at a fixed distance and leave it alone. With my past grows i am CONSTANTLY adjusting the height and distance of the cfls for penetration. With the white walls and volume could i just riddle the top and possibly sides with cfls and call it completed? any hope for hps?

Have you considered a UFO? LED. Look at a company called blackstar. It would be PERFECT for that.


Honestly, 150w HPS don't really surge any purpose. If you're wanton to go HPS stick to a 400+..... And... You can't... So...
Idk alot of people say other wise. But, I hate the idea of how much heat they throw off with so little in return.

Cfls would be second best from the UFO. FOUR 85w cfls with clamp lamps would run about 100$ put one in each corner.
My 135w UFO blackstar cost me 175$.... Think about it. You won't have to worry about heat... Trust me
 
Thy don't HAVE to be. But ifyou get more then 3w chips you do have to back them off a bit(bleaching) the one I got has 2-3w chips and they can touch the plants with no problems... They run cool as hell
 
I would go with the 4 cfl in the corner if it were me . If you are in Midwest ,USA Menards has 100w cfl 7500 sprctrum for 9$ , mounting perment you wont need the clamps and can save bucks there JMHO
 
go led ufo in this case. if your concerned about price get a used one of e bay or a web site similar. its way to small for a 400w mh or hps. i recently started using leds for supportive lighting (black star) and was amazed at what finished really tight buds good luck.
 
I bought a 150w hps for my cabnet I wish I had spent that on a nice UFO LED The HPS puts out an Fton on heat.
 
Argghhh i hate you guys!, Here i figured i was going to end up with a cheap cfl system but btn your replies and some grow journals i read im gonna order a blackstar sometime today :) any recommended sources? i mostly see blackstars on ebay and amazon..
 
I got mine off amazon. If not their I wouldn't buy it anywhere else but blackstar's website. Lots of scams on egay. People say what it is when it's really not what they say it is.


BTW. 12/12 from seed works great with led. BUT! You could also go with autos. Seeings how you won't have to worry about heat, you could leave it on 20/4 and get a mighty fine yield
 
Ordered! Now since the area i plan on using it may be too cold i might supplement some cfls for side lighting but mainly to warm up the box. i'll post some new pics when i put it all together!
