i had 20 seedlings under 4 cfl 23w, which is really a 400w. My problem is the roots are growing so damn fast i have to re-pot and my pots are way too big to fit in my 3'X3'X5' (l,w,d) area. I am an outdoor grower but we have shitty weather for about 2 more weeks. The plants are varying from 1-3 inches, but the roots are a good 3-5 inches.. The pots i have are 10 inch pots, i've been trying to think of ways raise/lower them just to make them fit (like stacking books) in my space, i believe i can fit 12 at the most with 4 seedlings per light. Any ideas?

They don't "need" nearly as much as the rest of its life. A few 23w cfl's are good for seeds/clones, then maybe some t5's or t12's unless you want to step up the the next level and get some metal halides.

Don't worry about the roots getting too big, let them take up all the soil you give them and then feed as usual and it will be just fine. I like to root bound my pots a little bit, then when I swap to bigger pots the roots are long enough to reach any water they need to.

thanks for replying, i can't bring myself to let them root bound... its just can't be 'great' for the plant..i would love to get a MH or any of the T's but i need a real indoor grow room for that (maybe in yrs to come), mine is rigged a little, i think i've figured out most of my problem, now i just need a fixture of some kind for my 1-2inch sprouts so my rigged area can house the ones in my pots. And i really don't want to rig a fixture or build one, i might have to tho. money is kinda a problem- i just bought my soil and the pots. At the moment i am checking home depot online.
