Need help with my new light

I just traded my buddy some fresh bud for his t5 light setup he had (he just upgraded to the 4 footer). This is it http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=49242
I wanted to try a full grow with this for fun, but the bulbs are only 23 watts. I normally bust out the hps for flowering so this is new to me. I dont know anything about t5s and i was just wondering if i could buy some 35 watt lights for it instead? I tried contacting growbright but they wont write back so i was wondering if anybody here knew.

the lume output pf the t5 bulbs rival the t8 and t12 bulbs so even if you could put the 35w bulbs in there, it wouldnt actually be better. that is a nice light but i wouldnt put more than two flowering plants under it, with some cool whites it would great for vegging though

thanks joker, i went and looked up t5s a little more. maybe i will have to bust out the hps. I thought higher wattage lights would make this work for flowering but maybe not

Don't be so quick to give up on the T5's for flowering. My verdict is still out. Here are a couple of pics of 2 Blueberry under two 2-foot 4-bulb T5's.

like i said its a nice light but it would be hard to flower more than two decent sized plants under it, so if you wanna use it for flower go ahead, just keep it to two plants max under it. i am a big fan of seperate grow areas for different phases and would kill someone for that light in my veg room......

I agree with you on the two plant, no more than three, statement under the T5's. I get 4 to 5 ozs. per two plant grow and about 6 out of three. So the average goes down.

However, I have a two plant grow going on now under my 400 hps also so I can see the difference and compare. I'm doing the same strain, same nutes, same containers, etc. The differences will be the T5 versus the hps and that the grow areas are slightly different in size.

As I said before, My verdict is still out. As technology advances so do the opportunities to improve quality and quantity. But in the end it's all about what makes you happy!
