Need Help with Grow Room

Well I just harvested for the first time and was not very satisfied with the results. I have a closet that is roughly 6' x 8' grew 12 plants under 1000w and got about and ounce to two a plant. I believe I should've done way better. I felt that a huge problem I was having was that I could not control the temperatures correctly. Well I have now scrapped that grow room and am starting another one. I am going to run two 600w HPS off of my 1000w lumatek ballast. I am also going to get a mini split AC and run that two maintain the temp at 80 degrees during lights on and 72 during lights off. I am going to regulate the C02 to maintain at 1500 ppm. I am still deciding if I should go hydro or soil. I am not planning on venting the lights at all. I really don't know how that is going to work but I am open for suggestions from some of you veterans out there.

first off you need way more light, like 4 600w hps. vent the lights seperately from the room keeping it sealed will be too much for your a/c to handle it without cooled lights. i would definitely suggest hydro flood and drain in grow rocks for this scale room. with proper feeding and techniques, and most of all GENETICS, such a room would rock! pics will be great :D

Thanks for the advice but I can only run two lights. I was told that the lights cover a 4' x 4' area so with two lights I should be able to cover 4' x 8'

I was told that with the 1000w ballast you could put a splitter on the ballast and run two 600w lights if you but the ballast dial on super lumens it will power both lights. That is what I was told from many people. If that is not the case then I will just buy another ballast and light.
