Need Help! Whats going on?

Hey everyone, really need some quick sound advice here. my plants used to look like attachment 1. But now it looks like attachments 2,3, and 4. See the twisting and disfigured leaves? What is going on on our plant right now? first time grower, need some advice we just got over some nute burn and now this! any and all advice greatly appreciated! peace

Could be a lot man. Light, ph, temp.? Ckeck all parameters and as long as they continue to grow you'll be cool, thats the key, rapid growth
 
hey thanks for the quick reply man! What would be your first guess, its on 18/6, 400 watt hps, constant drip during the 18 hours of light, the only water added is always ph adjusted to 5.8, the temperatures in the closet should not have changed too much because we have not done anything to change it. One thing that we have changed, but I do not think it should be an issue is the distance from lamp to plant, its changed dramatically the past few days going from far from the plant, to medium, to very close, to medium, then close again. (we got chains for the light and played around with height until we found one we liked) could this cause the plants to act like this? if so, should it recover now that the light is at a fixed position?
 
Looks like temperature damage to me but it could be something else.

Sounds like you just got the light too close, move it back up and see if you problem continues.
 
Definite temp problem. I have 2 plants that look exactly the same as yours. All my other plants are fine but those two curl like that when it gets too hot.
 
ok thanks guys, moved the light a little further away from the top of the plant. When you say two of your plants are like that does that mean the genetics can make a plant more susceptible to temp problems, or they were closer to a source? I feel like its already starting to recover, but hopefully it will not be an issue again, thanks again
 
A 400 watter should be about a foot away from the tops.Easy way to see if to place youyr hand palm down at the top of the plant and lower the light til the back of your hand just gets uncomfortably hot then thats your height.It almost looks like an overwatering issue to me.
 
I've had exact same problems with my plants. It might be that I had my light source too close....however I was using a 150W CFL and had it an inch away from the tops.

I moved all my plants under 600W HPS for flowering and all problems went away, it is cooler in my flowering room though. So don't worry about it, it's no big deal, I've had that several times throughout the growth of my plants, they'll be fine as long as you pH at 5.8, temps are at 68-85F and the EC level of nutes at this stage should be about 0.8-1 EC.
 
Do keep in mind that plant growth (photosynthesis) slows down GREATLY once the leaf surface temperature reaches 80 degrees so keeping the ROOM temp too high can indeed hinder the growth of your plants even if it isn't hot enough to "burn" the leaves.

Yeah genetics plays a definite role in their heat tolerance. Thats why desert plants dont have broad leaves because they will absorb more heat. I have had my afghanis in 90+ degree heat and they never showed heat stress. But around 80 degrees my Strawberry Cough will wilt or curl up.
 
Same problem over here take a look! I raised the lights as suggested. Not sure if it has help yet. Ill stay posted
