Need Help Quick!!!

First thanks for taken time to read and help me.

anyway I was at my friends ouse the other day and we went to chekc on his 1 and only plant he started. Well he never took care of it. It was out in a field and as gotten to about 2in but the top leave are brown and the bottoms are starting to turn. I dug up the roots and took it to my house and put it in a smaller size cup with some soil (really didnt have any good stuff on hand) and gave it water now its sittin in the sun light now...

is there anyting I can do or should I just give up?

Just love it and pray for it, pot plants are so very hardy, they are hard to kill.

thanks for the post after a day in the pot and water the drit has dryed up a lot and it looks to be standing back up what should I do?

Leave it alone. Go buy a moisture meter and find out how to use it. Buy a gallon of distilled or spring water but don't use it til the moisture meter says so. Read about growing and nutrients etc. You will have a few days while the plant recovers. VV
