NEED HELP?!! Bottom of stem is hard

My plant is about 3 weeks maybe 4...I can't remember. But the bottom of the stem is hard but as you move up the stem/tree the stem is fresh aswell as the leaves. Is this normal or do I have a problem....and if so What is it? :) I have been putting a fan on it to strengthen the stems but only for about 4 hours a day. Is that ok? More or less fan?? All advice wanted!!! Thanks

The bottom of the stem gets hard and thick to support more growth. Thats normal. Your plant looks small for 3 or 4 weeks. What kinda light are you running? Also you might want to start giving the plant some weak ferts. Your ocilating fan should be running more than 4 hours IMO. between 12 and 24 hours will work fine. Give the plant a breeze for it to further strenthen the stem.
