I am looking to get some new bulbs and need some help picking out the best kind to get. I need a 1000 watt HPS ,a 400 watt HPS, and 400 watt MH. I am looking for the best bulbs for my dollar. Also if you know a good (cheap) place online to buy bulbs I would like to check it out so I can compare the prices to my local grow store. Any help would be great! Thanks :blsmoke:

Ok so I've been looking around the site to find any info on this that may have already been given And I found a link to http://www.bghydro.com for light bulbs and they are cheaper than my local shop. Has anybody ordered from here and is it reputable or there a better site to go to? I think I was going to go with a 1000 HPS SolarMax Bulb - 147,000 lumens at $93.95, a 400 HPS Grolux Bulb at - 58,000 lumens at $69.95 , and a 400 MH AgroSun Bulb - 40,000 lumens at $64.95 . Think Thats enough light for 4-5 plants :weed: :hump::-P :blsmoke:

1000bulbs.com

Myself I prefer regular bulbs and if you want the added kick of blue adding a small halide like a 150 or 250, but it depends on your electric costs I guess. Adding blue doesn't make you extra money if you're growing to sell the cheap hps bulbs are my choice and just more of them and changing them more often to keep them at the highest output possible. I cycle per bulb even, if the bulbs are cheap it's not such a big deal.

A fresh normal bulb will beat any expensive one if the expensive one has a grow cycle on it already. Light output drops with age.

I bought mine from BGhydro.com too, got em in a couple days and they work fine. 250w light for like 20 bucks is hard to beat. From what i've read it's smart to replace HID bulbs once a year, and CFLs about every 6 months.

In a year of 12/12 a hps bulb has lost at least 25%, could be as high as 50% of it's original output.
You want to change them at least every two grows.
