I am a first time grower and I am in need of some help. I've read a lot of these forums and have watched a lot of the videos there are out there and have tried to apply everything I have learned to my situation. So I have about a 2ft by 4ft closet with flat white walls that I am trying to grow 3 plants in. I have lined the ceiling in white plastic for more reflection. I believe i do not have enough lumen output in the room for I only have two 14watt CFL's in the room and both lights are not directly on the plants. Can someone please advise me on how I can make this better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Uh, put the lights directly on the plants? Uh, higher wattage, like at least 200w total. Put the lights 2 or 3 inches from the plants but add ventilation. You can't just put a couple cfls at the top of your grow room and expect it to thrive. Also put some on the sides of the plant.

Soil, can't help.

3 plants, using CFL's will require a minimum of 200W. 350W would be better.

I use the 23W CFL's you get at the grocery store.

I highly recommend using a mixed spectrum of light.
For veg use a 3:1 ratio of 6500K to 3000K CFL's, flower is the other way around. HPS is way better for flower, you might want to look at something around the 200W neighbourhood.

Surround your plants with the CFL's about 2 or 3 inches away.

Put a fan in there for air circulation.

Have fun
