I need some expert help. Heres my story, I am planning on growing 2 or 3 plants in a 4x2 ft. Wooden Insilated box. The box will be sitting outside next to my house but very camouflaged. do you think that it needs to be insilated or not? i do live in wisconsin which has very cold winters. So pretty much indoor growing. I am planning on using Big Bud seeds from nirvana.com. Are these decent seeds? I have some questions before i start.
-What kind of ventilation do i need in the box if im planning on growing 2-3 plants?
-Do i need some sort of fan circulating in the box? How often should the fan be on? What sort of fan do your prefer?
-What type of light do you prefer for my plants? i want to grow some good buds so what would be the best?
-I plan to paint the walls white is this a good idea?
-What should i put for the floor of the box?
Any help would be apreciated thanks so much!

I actually had a setup like that when I first started my grow for my seedling stage..

As far as ventilation goes, If you could get just a small fan, or a more powerful fan you would be set, I had my fan in the side of the box and a like 2"x2" hole at the top, allowing the air to circulate in via fan and blow out the top, I was able to keep the temperature a constant 78 degrees.. I have/had my fan hooked up to a thermostat that was setup for a variable difference of +2 for if it got to 80 degrees it would kick on.. my house stays relatively cold (68 degrees).. One thing that you should know regarding ventilation is that a HPS bulb is going to get very hot which in turn I would suggest getting a pretty strong fan, enough to keep the bulb from burning your plant..

As far as lighting goes, If your on a cheap budget, CFL's would be an option.. If you have the money to find a ballast and a HPS bulb that would ultimately be one of your best investments, for the best yield/health of your plant 400-600 watt HPS is your "best" bet. This was recommended by one of the users on a similar thread, High Tech Garden Supply

If you're going to paint the walls of your box white make sure it's a "flat" white, but yes that would work..

Floor really isn't a problem, something that will allow water to drain out the bottom of your pots and out of your box preferably though.. Sealing your box would also be a plus because with it being outside you're going to want to keep it as pest free as possible!

I'm no professional grower I actually just started myself but as far as hvac and electrical go I can consider myself a "expert" seeing how it's my trade that gets me paid weekly ;)

I hope this helps out and I'm sure people will criticize my advice to help make it better if they see fit!

idk how cold it really gets by you but you dont want it to get get under like 60 in the box and try not to go over 85 the problem with your setup is its outside it has the uncontrollable variables of an outside grow but its in a box so you have slightly more control it would probably be better if you could move the box inside but go for it see how it works out. Its going to be hard to keep temps low if it gets to be 85 outside and humidity and pests could always start to bother. I know you said its pretty hidden but its outside anyone could find it or smell it.

Good luck
I always start with my original grow room design but alter it to make it efficient important thing is to have a temp gauge so you can document the temperature
ill be here if you have questions
