Need advice on closet set up please.

I currently have big bud strain and other unknown high quality strain seeds in a rapid rooter set up. I am currently using a small lil cfl light apx 2 inches away from the seedlings. I would like to invest in a better light however I am concerned with some issues on heat and ventilation.

I do not have access to my attic so I am trying to figure out how to solve this problem for ventilation. I was thinking about cutting the holes through drywall and making ventilation but still kind of hazy on making a succesful ventilation system.

I would like to purchase a light and was looking at the T5 4ft 8 tube set up. My budget is 500 dollars next week. Then in another next two weeks I will add another 300-500 dollars and so on. At this time, I am currently on a budget so I want to buy what I really need at that time.

I do believe in quality, and that is why I did purchase FF OCean Forest soil. I am not looking at being cheap but rather budgeting the problem and towards the end I will have what I need to successfully run a system.

here is the link of my grow journal with pics and dimensions of closet. Closet is apx 4 feet 2 inches long and from the cabinet to the other wall I believe it was 3 feet and 10 inches wide. Of course with 8 feet high ceiling.

if you have a budget like that than go high output CFL (40w or greater) for vegging and HPS for flowering. you will also be able to afford some decent ventilation with that coin... you can get a pretty sweet setup for even the first 500.

first and foremost,, clean out that closet,, it isnt a closet now its a grow chamber,, clean it out and sterilize it asap.

for lighting,, get one 40 or 42 or 45 watt cfl (10 bucks each) for each small plant you have. one per seedling might be a little much but 30 plants might be a little much for that area anyhow. you may want to wean that down to the strongest 5 or so,, unless you plan SOG. and in that case you could probably fit 15-20 but its hard to be 100% accurate with just picture... you should try to get that dresser out of there if you can.

you could go with 600 watts HPS (300$ for the full kit, ballast, bulb, and white batwing refector) with the proper ventilation for the whole area (providing you take it down to 5 plants or so) for flowering or you could space it out and get 2 or 3 lower wattage HPS (totally aprox 600).. you will need to save your money for this one but you wont need it untill you flower so save your dough

oh and you will want a cool tube (120$ for an 8" with a reflector) and conduit costs next to nothing and can be bought in huge lengths... pop a whole in the drywall or something just make sure where ever you vent out wont let light in... thats no good

oh,,for the fan,, i forgot, you will want one big fan so you dont have multiple holes to punch and multiple lines of conduit to route. i think your average bathroom exhaust fan is about 50 cfm (cubic feet per minute of air expelled) an 8" inline can fan is over 700 cfm and is about 250$

you could also go with a 6" cool tube and a 6" inline to save some bucks.... then just get something simple for air movement in the chamber.. a wall fan can be bought for under 50$, maybe have one per every 2 or 3 plants

The cabinet is built in as well the house is a rental. buy a couple holes is no biggy.

As my plan this weekend was to remove all that shit and sanitize it.

Any suggestions for saniztizing agent? I def will get it cleaned out and ready. I just have to buy something to hang my clothes up and place it in my bedroom.

I was thinking about the T5 4ft 8 tube set up. I thought that would be ideal.

Like I said I only have 500 dollars next week to work with then every other two weeks I can continue to poor money into the setup untill I have it in the ideal spot.

i have never heard anything real good about tube flouros, but you can go ahead, i know some users have them and probably swear by them but all i have ever known is that the tubes arent and good as the thin sprirals or the long U shaped ones... there are the u shaped ones that are over 100watts and are the perfect spectrum for the vegging cycle (high kelvin 6000 k +) and im sure you could find them for under 100$... i think the desing of a long tube is just less eficient than the spirals or the long U shaped ones

Well if you like could you send me or post a recommended light that wont have have heat being to much of a issue. As I get more experience I will add to my collection. Interesting point you have, however verses doing the wiring and customization is there a set up out I can purchase from internet?

what country do you live in? its never smart to send goods like that over any border.. just to be on the safe side,, not to mention the possibility of duty charges that you will HAVE to pay when the product reaches your door

USA, Texas. I have a local store, which is also the Texas Hydroponic store online. its biggest store in texas at 15,000 sq ft of space. I go there, but I be paying a little more. Then again if that is the route I have to go so be it. But I hate price mark ups when I now I can get it for cheaper. Oh well Its the bigger picture I am looking. In the end, I will save tremendously seeing how I pay apx 130-150 for a quarter oz of some good dro.

at least 10 plants. I have big bud strain right now as well 10 other unknown strains. I have my grow journal started that gives dimensions of my space.

10 plants eh... you are going to need a fair amount of light for 10... like 1000 watt hps, two 600w, or four 250 watt
otherwise you will need a shit load of those T5's... you cant economically grow 10 plants with CFL (IMO)

two 400watt hps would actually cut it and i think because 400watt is the "standard" it is the most widely produced therefore is the cheapest... for instance. the site i buy from charges 26$ for a 400 watt bulb and charges 32 for the 250w... and there is only a 10$ increase in price from the 250w to the 400w.. not bad considering you are almost doubling the wattage.

Yea, well I figured the 8 tube t5 setup would be great for this. I dunno, I just thought I start out with 20 plants and then you know I only be down to like 7 or so. I am going to take clones off a couple of the plants, then I will turn those clones into mother plants.

I did update my grow journal with the new pics. The temps well at night in the closet with door closed was at avg of 79 degrees. Now that is a ideal tempv with relative humidity at 40
