need a decent humidifier - help

Hey guys,

I'm out in the high desert and am trying to find a reliable humidifier for a reasonable price. I want to buy one that doesn't use the replacable filters (e.g. cool mist humidifiers), and i don't want to refill the unit more than a couple times a week.

The room is a little over 250 sq. ft. and I want to keep the room at 60-70%. Average humidity out here is about 25%...

I've looked ALL OVER online and havent found anything that I feel comfortable buying as a shot in the dark. So, I'm posting here to see what recommendations you fine people might have...

Thanks for any help, in advance!

Get a rubbermaid roughneck ten gal container. use 1/2" pvc pipe to make a frame and hang a towel over the frame so it touches the bottom of the container. Soak the towel in water, fill the rubbermaid with at least five gal of water, with the towel hanging in the water it will never dry out. Aim a fan at the towel and your done. it is about the same way the factory made units work.

mr. gates, this sounds like a decent idea. i'll give it a go and let you know how it works.

i'm curious if it'll be up to snuff for out here in the rockies...

thanks!
