natural flavor in food

I read a lot of labels because I have a food allergy & I'm seeing the ingredient "Natural flavor" a lot.
Does anyone know what this means? Shit is natural, after all.
Are the other ingredients unnatural?
Weird.

Natural Flavors are derived from natural sources such as cow manure for vanilla, or certain woods for vanilla. It can also mean that the food is flavored from an otter's ass glands. Artificial flavors come from petroleum.
Personally I avoid all that stuff just to be safe. After all, tricking the brain into thinking something tastes a certain way but doesn't contain the compounds and nutrients that go with that flavor seems unhealthy to me.
