Mylar and electricity

I am building a grow box and want to line it with mylar. My plan is to line it smoothly with the mylar and then attach light sockets to the box directly over the mylar. The only problem is that the wires are exposed under the sockets and may touch the mylar. Will this be safe? Will the mylar work as a conductor? Do I need to cut out circles where the sockets will be to make it safe?

use a plastic "back box" if ya can find one, but I wouldent allow electric to touch mylar just in case!

Make a cut out for any electrical outlets with a razor it is not that hard

I went from white walls to mylar and will never go back you will be glad you invested in it

Not sure where you can get the Mylar but it IS in fact an insulator as long as it is just PLAIN Mylar! It is even being used in some high quality capacitors now. Just never use "metallized" or "aluminized" Mylar and keep it dry and you'd be in okay shape.
