My vertical grow design (pictures!!)

Hey guys. I'm designing my vertical grow room but I'm not positive which way will be most efficient. I plan on designing a shelf kind of system so I could have green wherever the lights penetrating. I've got 50 clones waiting for me, and theyre going to be flowered at 12"-18", I still havent decided.

The picture is something I just drew up real quick on paint to show you guy what my current dilemma is.

The first setup, with both cool tubes being hung individually would allow for much more growth along the walls at the level that the tubes would be put at, but it would limit the growth on the floor and the growth up towards the ceiling.

The second setup would be tighter towards the middle of the room and it would just be a cyclone of bud surrounding the two bulbs. from the floor to the ceiling.

Question 1: Which setup would give a higher gpw?
Question 2: I could get a 12" 5' tall active air carbon filter through a trade, and I'd be able to spend the money that I'd originally spend on the fan and filter on just a fan, so I'd also be able to upgrade to a bigger fan. Should I? Or is what I have plenty, and overdoing it wouldnt be necessary?
Question 3: Is it okay for my cooltubes to be open on the bottom?

Lemme get some guidance from ye good folk here. Steer me in the right direction! Any advice is appreciated

i can tell you from experance that the stacked will be much better. how are you planning on aranging your shelfs, how many? what are your room dimensions? you'll want at least 24" between the plants and light. Now about a vert grow there is one major problem which most people over look., Access it's almost impossible to get to the back of your room to check on plants, even harder with a light hanging down the middle of your canopy. hope it was helpful

I actually just got a 5' tall 12" active air carbon filter. i have to stand it up, cant hang that thing, weighs over 150lbs. I'm going to be purchasing a 12" inline fan thats gonna pull air through the carbon filter, through both cool tubes, and out the room.

Here's what I've got drawn out so far, let me know if you can think up something better.

My room dimensions are 8x8x8, although I think I may try to fit it tighter together so theres light hitting mostly foliage.

I'ma DIY a grow tent that will have a zipper on each side so I could water the plants and what not. The shelving is still undecided. I thought up a few nifty ideas when I was walking around in home depot and a few grow journals are giving me some help as well, but I'm not decided on it yet.

How come the plants should be 2' from the light? I figure the cooltube should be cool with over 1000cfm running through it, was even thinking that towards the end of flowering some buds might be real close against it.

And I'm thinking maybe to get it to go <12" fan sucks through the 12" filter and blows through the cooltube and exhaust> as it would save money and make it easier, but I don't know if it would be effective at all since I heard you should only suck air through lights

with plants closer than like 18" you will get bleaching and stunt your plants. If you want to see agreat growwith lotofgood idea's look up Flojo it called "flojos round 2 vertical" or something like that you'll have to search it trust me its worth reading

Only thing is, I see people have their 1000w HID's 8" away from the plants under a reflector, making the light much more powerful and they dont seem suffer from bleaching. I guess I'll have to make the shelves on wheels though so I can move them closer and further from the center of the room.

I actually read through both of FloJos grows and they are very nice. I actually plan on using a very similar shelf design, only big difference is his system is hydro and mine is in good ol' FFOF.
