My stalks are being chewed to the core!

Yup well I had 16 plants outdoors in a canyon near my house, till something has been apparently chewing or scraping the stalks of my plants eventually down to the core taking 4 of the 16 down. I come to you guys cause I cant afford to loose any more and I would love to stop this rodent of some sort.

would have to see pics, the one thing i had chew my plants into chunks was coyote pups. I ended up trapping it thinking it would be a rabbit.

Should have a fence, sounds like it could termites, check to see if the stem is hollowed from the base.
