My Simple DIY Vero 29 Veg to Grow

I was inspired by Dimebagor to post, on one of the other DIY threads.

Here is my not so fancy DIY LED grow

This is the light using 6 Vero 29 4000k, mounted on arctic 11 heat sinks, powered by Meanwell LPF-90-42, all the fans are running off Meanwell LPV-20-12 and that is wired into two power cords and plugged into a power strip that also has a breaker in it, which in turn is plugged into a timer to control the light cycle... Extremely simple nothing fancy.


Tortured starts that should have been transplanted sooner.


This was about 2 weeks later not exactly sure.

One more week has gone by here, December 12th

And this is December 17th


I am extremely happy with how the light is working so far, it saved the tortured plants.

The plants are also growing in a very compact way with small internode spacing. I think the six light sources are really helping them plants develop nice full branches and undergrowth because of the diffusion.

I plan to keep vegging the plants under the Vero 29s 4000k and building a larger array of LEDs using the same basic components with Vero 29 2700k or 3000k to flower them in a larger space.

I will use this thread as a place to update my progress and engage around this project.

Stick with the 3000k or 3500k. The 2700k causes a lot of stretching in almost all species.

I got a bonus seed with my seed order that was a Autoflower Diesel Ryder, she will just be flowered under the 18/6 light.

under a DIY. what are you using for medium and method

Honestly... My Lady is in charge of feeding nutrients and the like for the plants, so I cant tell you exactly what style, I am in charge of the technology

The Diesel will just be flowered straight, nothing fancy, just staying there in that pot until its done, no pruning really because its an auto flower.

As for the others, the best of each strain will be saved for mother plant and left under the VEG light. There are 5 vanilla kush fem, Original Afghan non fem, 2 Jack Herer fem, 3 Y Graiga CBD fem, 4 Medi Haze CBD fem, 2 OG Kush fem, 2 big banger fem (one of which is a mini mutant), 1 dr seedsman fem and the one diesel Ryder fem. So I will have 6 selected for mother plants, the others will be flowered or find new homes as mothers for other people. If I get a male Original Afghan then I might build a single Vero 29 "male box" for the purpose of breading, and then fertilize some bottom flower after harvest one one of the CBD strains.

This also means that my next step is going to be building an area large enough to flower 12-18 plants with Vero LEDs. I plan to build the area and build another 6 LED light, which I already have the parts for, to keep them vegging, because that needs to happen like next week. Then get another... 36 or so Vero 29s 3000k or 3500k and build out a flower room. That is what I am exploring and planning now.

I have a garage space for the flower room. Basic plan is to add two more breakers into the circuit breaker, one on each side and use them to run the garage flower room. It will likely between 10x10-12x12 feet, framed in room, inside the garage space, vented into the space. I was thinking 6 arrays similar to GG drone.

I plan to consult all of you as I go along, part of the reason I made this thread, wanted to show it does not have to be that complicated and a newb like me can even due it! (Forget the fact that I did get accepted into an college Engineering program)

Above would be phase two, phase three will be incorporating far red flower initiators and trying to extend the light cycle to a 14/10 flower, and also an automated control systems, Arduino or Raspberry Pi. But first the Flower room!

Been busy, I moved 7 plants under a six light array. They have been under 12x12 for about 40 days. We are not exactly pro indoor growers here, this is my second grow ever, first indoor, and my girlfriends (she is the plant person in charge for the most part I just build the stuff) It is maybe her 4th grow or something. I am using WAY less ventilation then would be required with traditional lights, it would be impossible to grow like we are in the space we are using at the time being. I expect that given the number of plants and space to light ratio I should yield above one gram per watt. The nicest one is an OG Kush, then Original Afgan, and the others are CBD Medi Haze and CBD Y Greiga.

great use of the shower / bathroom. I use one of my bathrooms as a veg room. Cloner sits up on top of the toilet. I made a stage with closet racks to make an even floor so to speak across the whole bathroom so the tub isn't in the way.

7 Plants in a 6x4 area, under 6 Vero 29s.

1 pound of dry cannabis.

works out to be about .75 grams per watt.

I am going to call it a smashing success for a first indoor grow.

What's the dark green one in the corner. I think you might have don't better to have topped them with those lights.

The light looks awesome though. I might give this go
