My sand rail project

just picked this up from a friend , she was all put together 3 days ago. she has been setting for 5 year out in the weather so the motor is sezed but i can fix it for damn near nothing... im going to paint it gold and metatic black. i'l update as i get er done step by step.. my goal is to have it sand ready a year from now...

... nice, what kind of motor did it have when you got it? what kind of motor are you going to end up putting in it?? i've seen some wicked sand rails with vw air cooled engines in them for sure, and since i'm a vw fan, i've always liked them..
can't wait to see what you end up doing with it for sure..

it has a 1600 with dual port heads.. off to a great start with the engine.. its going to be a fun project.. and i only picked it up for $1,500 came with 2 engines and 2 transaxles.

nice, that's the same engine i had in my 71 super beatle.. of course i had a two barrel and header and bugpack exhaust on mine, lol.. sounds like a steal..
i wish i lived somewhere where i could get the use out of something like this, but i don't think the cops in my town would like it too much if i tried cruising it up and down my street, lol..

My inline four 750 cc was just pushing me through freeway traffic at 150mph.. don't underestimate a liter plus inline four! ;)

Don't make me start on the gsx1300r engine :eyesmoke:

Your talkin high rev powerbands with that though, you going for more low/mid end torque or what?

i suppose you've gotta watch the gear box on a bike engine, but 160bhp would shift some sand, lol

A friend of mine offered me an old three wheeler but it need a transaxel.
It's one of those fiberglass ones.
I got a wielder and a Plazcutter for fabbing stuff.
